Market President

RHC Group Management LLCNashville, TN
Hybrid

About The Position

The Market President is a highly strategic and impactful leadership role responsible for the overall performance of the Tennessee market, which is made up of employed, affiliated, and integrated primary care and specialty clinics. This executive will lead the development and execution of strategies that optimize performance, enhance the patient experience, and drive growth across all three clinic models — recognizing that each requires a different leadership approach. This role works within a dyad model, partnering with the Regional Chief Medical Officer, who is responsible for the clinical performance of the market. The ideal candidate will be a visionary, results-oriented healthcare leader with a proven track record managing large, complex healthcare operations, and — just as importantly — a track record of earning credibility and performance improvement from independent and affiliated physician practices.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of progressive leadership experience in a multi-site healthcare setting.
  • Significant focus on healthcare operations and value-based care.
  • Experience leading a network that includes both employed staff and independent or affiliated practices.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing operational strategies to drive growth and improve performance.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare operations, financial management, value-based care economics (e.g., shared savings, ACO, MSSP), and regulatory compliance.
  • Exceptional leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills with a proven ability to develop staff and instill a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence rather than authority — building credibility with independent and affiliated practice owners through data, trust, and consistent follow-through.
  • Strong analytical ability and comfort utilizing data, analytics, and performance metrics — and translating them into a clear, persuasive story for stakeholders who don't report to you.
  • Experience designing or administering incentive programs (shared savings, quality bonuses, performance-based compensation) that drive behavior change in independent practices.
  • Superior problem-solving skills to address complex business and operational challenges effectively.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary to articulate strategy and influence stakeholders, including the dyad partner, employed providers, and affiliate and integrated practice leaders.
  • Ability to function effectively in a shared leadership (dyad) model and build strong relationships with providers, staff, and other stakeholders across multiple practice models.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Proven track record of earning credibility and performance improvement from independent and affiliated physician practices.

Responsibilities

  • Hold direct operational and financial accountability for all employed primary care clinics, staffing, budgets, and performance.
  • Exercise full hiring, coaching, and performance-management authority over directors of operations and, in partnership with the dyad clinical leader, over employed providers.
  • Set and enforce standard operating procedures, staffing models, and workflows across employed clinics.
  • Build trusted, consultative relationships with affiliate and integrated practice owners and leaders who are not direct reports and who choose whether to engage.
  • Use performance data, market trends, and peer benchmarking — not mandates — to make the case for change, translating complex data into a clear, credible story for independent practice owners.
  • Design and administer incentive structures (shared savings, quality bonuses, performance-based programs) that align affiliate and integrated practice behavior with market and value-based care goals.
  • Deliver ongoing education — best-practice sharing, coding and documentation training, care-model workshops — that helps affiliate and integrated providers succeed under value-based arrangements.
  • Earn continued participation and network growth by demonstrating measurable value: stronger quality scores, better shared-savings performance, and a support experience practices don't want to leave.
  • Monitor the engagement and satisfaction of affiliated and integrated practices as closely as employed-clinic metrics, and resolve friction points quickly.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive operational strategy for the Tennessee market — spanning employed, affiliated, and integrated clinics — aligned with the organization's mission and goals.
  • Identify opportunities for network growth, including new affiliate and integrated partnerships, within the primary care and specialty service lines.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, competitive activity among peer value-based care organizations, and emerging technologies to maintain a competitive advantage.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of all employed primary care clinics, ensuring efficient workflows, optimal staffing levels, provider productivity, and high-quality patient care.
  • Demonstrate effective problem-solving skills to rapidly address and resolve complex operational challenges and maintain business continuity across all three clinic models.
  • Utilize data and analytical insights from performance reports — across employed, affiliated, and integrated clinics — to drive informed operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) across all three models to track operational efficiency, financial performance, and patient satisfaction, applying direct operational levers where you have authority and influence-based levers where you don't.
  • Implement process improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and improve outcomes in alignment with operational strategy and financial targets.
  • Manage and collaborate with finance to develop the annual operating budget for the employed primary care service lines, and track shared-savings and incentive economics for affiliated and integrated clinics.
  • Regularly analyze financial performance across all clinic models, identify areas for improvement, and implement strategies to optimize revenue and control costs.
  • Assist revenue cycle management processes to ensure timely and accurate billing and collections.
  • Promote and support the adoption of value-based care models across employed, affiliated, and integrated clinics.
  • Collaborate with providers — regardless of clinic model — to implement quality improvement initiatives, care coordination programs, and population health management strategies.
  • Track and analyze performance on value-based care metrics by clinic and by model, providing feedback, benchmarking, and support to drive improvement.
  • Structure and communicate incentive programs that reward affiliate and integrated practices for strong value-based performance.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, engagement, and productivity among employed providers (physicians and APPs) and staff, and a culture of trust and partnership among affiliated and integrated providers.
  • Actively develop staff through mentorship, coaching, and delegation to build a strong leadership pipeline within the market.
  • Hold employed team members accountable for their responsibilities, ensuring clarity on roles, performance expectations, and goal achievement.
  • Influence affiliate and integrated provider behavior through relationship equity, data transparency, and shared incentives rather than direct authority.
  • Develop and implement programs to support leadership, professional development, and retention for employed staff, in coordination with Human Resources and the talent development team.
  • Ensure a positive work environment for employed staff, and a responsive, value-adding partnership experience for affiliated and integrated practices.
  • Champion a patient-centric approach to care delivery across all clinic models.
  • Monitor patient satisfaction scores and implement initiatives to address areas for improvement.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance the patient experience, including access to care, communication, and service quality, in employed clinics and in partnership with affiliate and integrated practice leadership.
  • Serve as the operational leader in the clinical-operational dyad model across employed, affiliated, and integrated clinics, sharing accountability and decision-making for the overall success of the market with your clinical partner.
  • Partner with the Dyad Clinical Leader to jointly develop and execute strategies for clinical quality, patient safety protocols, and care delivery models — exercising direct operational authority in employed clinics, and leading through data, education, and shared incentives in affiliated and integrated clinics.
  • Co-lead joint initiatives related to provider recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and physician alignment across the market, spanning employed, affiliated, and integrated practices.
  • Work collaboratively with your clinical counterpart to balance operational efficiency and financial targets with clinical excellence and patient outcomes across all three clinic models.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, healthcare organizations, independent physician groups, and other stakeholders across Tennessee.
  • Represent the organization at community events, industry conferences, and other forums to promote its mission and services, and to support affiliate and integrated practice recruitment.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal healthcare regulations across employed, affiliated, and integrated clinics.
  • Oversee the implementation of quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety and clinical outcomes.
  • Maintain a strong focus on risk management and patient privacy.
