The Market Medical Director is an important part of the ArchWell Health leadership team. The physician in this role will be responsible for leading PCPs in his/her neighborhood of clinics, which may include some clinical practice alongside their physician colleagues in order to remain close to our patients. They will also have mission-critical leadership responsibilities, which include setting an example for how high-quality primary care is practiced, serving as a leader, mentor and coach to providers in ArchWell Health centers. They will also provide input on critical organizational-wide strategic initiatives.

Requirements

  • M.D. or D.O. graduates
  • Board certified/eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine (required)
  • At least one (1) year experience in progressively responsible administrative or management-related position in a primary care environment
  • Experience supervising providers and clinical staff with a demonstrated record of success
  • Previous experience working within a managed care or value-based environment
  • Highly collaborative and enjoy leading teams with a patient-centric orientation
  • Driven to care for those with comorbid conditions, the elderly and/or medically underserved
  • Passionate about their work and energized by being part of a fast growing organization

Responsibilities

  • Leading PCPs in their neighborhood of clinics, which may include some clinical practice.
  • Setting an example for how high-quality primary care is practiced.
  • Serving as a leader, mentor and coach to providers in ArchWell Health centers.
  • Providing input on critical organizational-wide strategic initiatives.
  • Provider Management: Providing leadership, support and structure to physicians and care teams, ensuring centers are properly staffed and call schedules are covered, recruiting/developing/coaching physicians, promoting them to take local leadership roles, supporting performance reviews for physicians, and supporting new physician orientation and ongoing training.
  • Leadership and Coaching: Educating physicians on how to successfully manage patients in a value-based care environment, coaching physician colleagues on how to utilize data-driven tools and teach best-practices, and serving as a role-model for how to keep patients well and out of the hospital.
  • Care Delivery and Center Operations: Leading market-level clinical meetings, including weekly physician meetings and reviews of hospitalized patients and those at risk for clinical deterioration, supporting care teams and teaching best practices related to daily huddles, telehealth, walk-in visits, hospital follow-up, patient experience, and other activities critical to ensuring patients have access to high-quality care, and conducting regular reviews of quality dashboards and outcomes.
  • Support Organizational Strategy: Collaborating with the corporate team and leadership in other markets to share best practices and improvement opportunities, and providing strategic input into organizational-wide goals and initiatives such as network development, specialty referrals, documentation and accurate coding, quality improvement and HEDIS measures, utilization management, transitional care and case management, clinical compliance and policy development, and patient engagement and community outreach.
