About The Position
At Hy-Vee, we believe the shortest distance between two people is a smile. Our Market Grille Express Clerks keep things moving in one of the busiest parts of the store, making sure customers get fresh, quality food quickly and with a smile. In this role, you'll handle everything from taking orders and prepping product to keeping the department stocked and the work area spotless. If you enjoy a fast-paced environment, like working with food, and take pride in delivering great service every shift, we'd love to have you on our team.
Requirements
- Follow detailed written or verbal instructions and work through tasks with a few concrete variables
- Perform simple addition and subtraction, copy figures, and count and record accurately
- Understand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions and communicate supply needs orally or in writing
- Work effectively as part of a team to deliver a great customer experience
- Six months or less of similar or related work experience
Nice To Haves
- Prior food service experience is a plus
Responsibilities
- Provide prompt, friendly customer service, greeting customers with a smile, learning their names, and making every interaction a positive one
- Take customer orders at the Market Grille Express counter and answer the telephone promptly, providing helpful service including taking product orders
- Review daily orders, anticipate product needs, and prepare and replenish product as necessary
- Pull product from the cooler or freezer to prepare for cooking and ensure an adequate food supply is ready and on hand
- Handle food safely and review the status and appearance of food for freshness throughout your shift
- Maintain a clean, sanitary work area at all times
- Check in product, put product away, and review invoices as needed
- Run the department register, receive payment, and make change where applicable
- Remove trash in a timely manner and wash dishes as necessary
- Price and order product and deliver orders as needed
- Work with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment
- Assist in other areas of the store as needed and take on special projects as assigned
- Maintain strict adherence to personal hygiene, dress standards, and all Hy-Vee policies and store guidelines
- Report to work when scheduled and on time
