About The Position
Our Market Grille Clerks are at the center of one of the most exciting parts of the Hy-Vee store, serving up fresh, made-to-order food and creating a warm, welcoming experience for every customer who walks up to the counter. In this role, you'll keep things running smoothly by staying on top of orders, handling food safely, and working as part of a team that takes pride in quality and service. If you enjoy a fast-paced environment, like working with food, and love making customers happy, this could be a great fit for you.
Requirements
- Follow detailed written or verbal instructions and work through tasks with a few concrete variables
- Perform simple addition and subtraction, copy figures, and count and record accurately
- Understand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions and communicate supply needs orally or in writing
- Work effectively as part of a team to deliver a great customer experience
- Six months or less of similar or related work experience
Nice To Haves
- Prior food service experience is a plus
Responsibilities
- Provide prompt, friendly customer service, greeting customers with a smile, learning their names, and going the extra mile to make every visit a positive one
- Take customer orders at the Market Grille counter and answer the telephone promptly, providing helpful service including taking product orders
- Review daily orders, anticipate product needs, and prepare and replenish product as necessary
- Pull product from the cooler or freezer to prepare for cooking and ensure an adequate food supply is ready and on hand
- Handle food safely and review the status and appearance of food for freshness at all times
- Maintain a clean, sanitary work area throughout your shift
- Check in product, put product away, and review invoices as needed
- Run the department register, receive payment, and make change where applicable
- Remove trash in a timely manner and wash dishes as necessary
- Price and order product and deliver orders as needed
- Work with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment
- Assist in other areas of the store as needed and take on special projects as assigned
- Maintain strict adherence to personal hygiene, dress standards, and all Hy-Vee policies and store guidelines
- Report to work when scheduled and on time
