About The Position

Virginia Mason Franciscan Health (VMFH) is seeking a Market Director of Operational Finance for its Physician Enterprise (PE) in the Puget Sound area. This role provides day-to-day finance support to assigned PE entities, focusing on driving financial performance through operational collaboration and business intelligence activities. The director will report to the PE-NW VP of Operational Finance and ensure compliance with organizational policies. Key responsibilities include coordinating monthly close activities, managing budget development, business intelligence, and due diligence for acquisitions. The position requires a broad understanding of healthcare finance, budget development, business intelligence, and due diligence practices. The director will assess and improve existing systems and processes, develop comprehensive recommendations for projects, and oversee financial analysis and reporting, including complex modeling and profitability analyses. This role also involves leading the development and administration of the annual operational/capital budget and long-range strategic financial plan, promoting fiscal responsibility, and ensuring compliance with VMFH policies. The director will manage and evaluate assigned staff engaged in financial and business intelligence activities. The role acts as a strategic partner to operational leaders, guiding financial performance and providing essential finance support.

Requirements

Bachelors degree in a discipline related to the duties of the position.
Six years of related healthcare work experience that would demonstrate attainment of the requisite job knowledge/abilities, upon hire.
Experience in financial reporting, forecasting, modeling, revenue cycle management, internal controls and audit procedures, upon hire.

Responsibilities

Provides day-to-day finance support to operating departments of VMFH Physician Enterprise (PE) assigned entities.
Works with operational leaders to drive financial performance of assigned entities.
Has oversight of business intelligence activities to meet the information and analytic needs of internal and external stakeholders.
Carries out assignments from the PE-NW VP of Operational Finance.
Ensures compliance with organizational policies.
Coordinates monthly close activities with the regional finance office on matters regarding monthly close, budget, decision support, and other finance issues.
Conducts ongoing assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of the assigned function(s) to better understand/identify future needs and challenges.
Evaluates existing systems/program/priorities and future potential to make recommendations for performance/process improvement initiatives and new/revised policies/procedures.
Develops/presents comprehensive recommendations regarding the viability of specific projects and plans/directs process improvement initiatives/projects to ensure achievement of business objectives.
Oversees and leads VMFH PE business intelligence, financial analysis and reporting activities, including the preparation of complex and multi-faceted business operations/financial modeling/analytical reports/metrics requiring comprehensive understanding of healthcare finance and reimbursement methodology and profitability analyses.
Leads the development, administration and evaluation of VMFH PE annual operational/capital budget and long range strategic financial plan.
Oversees resources/activities to promote fiscal/fiduciary responsibility, compliance with VMFH policies and standards and achievement of organizational objectives.
Plans, manages and evaluates the work of assigned staff engaged in financial and business intelligence activities in accordance with applicable internal/external regulations and standards for human resource management.
Acts as a strategic partner to operational leaders, guiding financial performance and providing day-to-day finance support for assigned PE entities.
