About The Position

The Market Development & Industry Relations Manager is responsible for expanding ECS's presence, influence, and market position within the fire protection engineering community. As a key ambassador for the organization, this role builds strategic relationships with fire protection engineers, industry associations, technical committees, and other influential stakeholders to strengthen ECS's visibility and reputation across the industry. This position leads market development initiatives that drive awareness and adoption of ECS solutions, specifications, and technical expertise. Working closely with sales, marketing, and business leadership, the Market Development & Industry Relations Manager serves as a trusted voice within the industry, identifies opportunities to influence standards and best practices, and helps position ECS as a recognized thought leader in corrosion control and fire protection.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 7+ years of experience in fire protection, engineering consulting, building systems, construction, or a related industry.
  • Demonstrated success building and maintaining relationships with engineers, technical stakeholders, customers, and industry organizations.
  • Strong presentation, communication, and public speaking skills with the ability to effectively engage both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders and drive initiatives through relationship-building and technical credibility.
  • Experience representing an organization at industry events, conferences, customer meetings, and professional associations.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to identify market opportunities and contribute to commercial growth strategies.
  • Self-motivated and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives and priorities independently.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 40%.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Degree specifically in Fire Protection Engineering.
  • Experience working with fire protection systems, corrosion mitigation technologies, water-based fire protection systems, or related building infrastructure solutions.
  • Active involvement in organizations such as SFPE, NFPA, AFSA, NFSA, or similar industry associations.
  • Experience serving on technical committees, standards organizations, or code-development groups.
  • Proven track record influencing specifications, design standards, industry best practices, or technical guidance.
  • Experience supporting technical marketing, thought leadership initiatives, or market development programs.
  • Established network within the fire protection engineering community.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary ECS representative within the fire protection engineering community.
  • Build and maintain relationships with fire protection engineers, industry leaders, professional organizations, and key stakeholders.
  • Develop and execute market engagement activities, including customer meetings, lunch-and-learns, conferences, trade shows, and industry events.
  • Identify and pursue speaking engagements, technical presentations, and thought leadership opportunities that increase ECS visibility and influence.
  • Collaborate with sales, marketing, and business leadership to align market development strategies with commercial growth objectives.
  • Monitor industry trends, customer needs, competitive activity, and emerging opportunities, translating insights into actionable business recommendations.
  • Participate in industry organizations, technical committees, and professional associations to strengthen ECS's industry presence and influence.
  • Support the development of technical content, presentations, and market-facing resources that drive customer engagement and business growth.
  • Track and report on market development activities, relationship-building efforts, and strategic outcomes.
  • Monitor changes to fire protection standards and codes and help identify opportunities that support ECS's business objectives.
