About The Position

The Market Development Engineer - Medical is responsible for driving new customer engagement, identifying emerging opportunities, and expanding market presence within key medical and healthcare segments. The engineer proactively drives material specification at OEMs, medical device manufacturers, contract manufacturers, and component molders. This individual develops a deep working knowledge of the medical value chain, including regulatory considerations, sterilization methods, biocompatibility requirements, and clinical application needs. The individual provides technical expertise in material selection, part design, processing and performance requirements of Celanese products and offers technical support throughout the product development life cycle.

Requirements

  • Develop deep customer and market knowledge. Draw connections to foresee future trends and develop opportunities to grow and innovate
  • Ability to interact, influence and facilitate at several levels of the organization
  • Must be willing to prospect for new customers/projects and develop strategies for identifying and targeting new customers and segment strategies
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science or Technical Field
  • 7 years required in plastics or related field
  • Technical expertise combined with business or market development experience required
  • Willingness to travel - 50%

Responsibilities

  • Generates opportunities for new business growth
  • Manages internal new product development (NPD), testing, computer-aided engineering and external developments to drive projects to close
  • Targets new customers in selected market spaces
  • Works with new customers to determine potential applications and best Celanese material solutions
  • Works with Account Manager at existing customers to develop new applications and provide technical support as needed
