Responsibilities

  • Assist in advanced patient procedures using anesthesia and analgesia protocols, including developing individualized anesthetic plans tailored to each patient’s needs.
  • Monitor anesthesia, recognize and troubleshoot complications, and implement appropriate interventions in real time.
  • Perform intravenous catheter placement, endotracheal intubation, and anesthetic equipment setup, operation, and maintenance.
  • Conduct patient assessments including heart rate, pulse quality, capillary refill time, mucous membrane evaluation, temperature, respiratory rate, and effort.
  • Identify abnormal patient parameters and communicate concerns promptly to the veterinarian.
  • Set up and manage intravenous fluids and CRIs while monitoring patient response and recognizing signs of fluid overload.
  • Confidently operate and troubleshoot a variety of intravenous fluid pumps and monitoring equipment.
  • Guide patients through the full procedural process, including pre-op preparation, anesthetic monitoring, recovery, and post-op care.
  • Maintain accurate medical records, obtain patient histories, manage appointments, process invoicing, and support client discharges.
  • Utilize strong medical math skills to support safe and accurate patient care.
  • Continue expanding advanced technical skills in areas such as epidurals, difficult airway intubation, and critical case management.
  • Support the training and development of technicians and support staff through hands-on mentorship, clinical guidance, and knowledge-sharing to help elevate team skillsets and patient care standards.
