About The Position

We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for United States-based capital markets compliance professionals experienced in trade surveillance, market abuse monitoring, market conduct review, surveillance alert investigation, regulatory compliance, financial crime detection, and surveillance technology workflows. This role supports current and upcoming remote consulting opportunities focused on AI-assisted trade surveillance evaluation, market abuse scenario review, compliance reasoning assessment, surveillance alert analysis, and high-quality project execution. Selected professionals will apply domain expertise to evaluate trading scenarios, assess AI-generated surveillance outputs, identify suspicious activity patterns, and provide structured feedback based on detailed project criteria.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in trade surveillance, market surveillance, market abuse monitoring, compliance surveillance, regulatory oversight, or related capital markets compliance roles
  • Hands-on experience investigating surveillance alerts and documenting case outcomes
  • Strong understanding of market abuse regulations and conduct monitoring frameworks
  • Familiarity with SEC and FINRA rules, MAR, MiFID II, FCA market conduct requirements, exchange surveillance standards, or comparable regulatory frameworks
  • Experience with equities, options, futures, fixed income, FX, commodities, digital assets, or multi-asset trading environments
  • Ability to clearly articulate investigative reasoning and regulatory conclusions in written form
  • Fluent English communication skills
  • High attention to detail and ability to identify subtle trading patterns, case logic issues, or surveillance gaps

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with surveillance platforms such as Nasdaq SMARTS, NICE Actimize, Eventus Validus, ACA Sigma, SteelEye, eFlow, OneMarket Surveillance, TradingHub, or similar tools
  • Prior involvement in surveillance model tuning, alert calibration, threshold optimization, surveillance program design, or control enhancement
  • Experience working directly with regulators or supporting responses to regulatory inquiries, examinations, or enforcement-related reviews
  • Knowledge of algorithmic trading, high-frequency trading, electronic market structure, cross-market activity, or complex order behavior
  • Certifications such as CAMS, CISI, CFA, FRM, or similar compliance, risk, or financial markets credentials
  • Experience reviewing regulatory narratives, compliance investigation memos, suspicious activity summaries, or market conduct case documentation

Responsibilities

  • Review simulated or real-world-style trading scenarios for indicators of potential market abuse or misconduct
  • Evaluate scenarios involving insider trading, market manipulation, spoofing, layering, wash trading, front running, marking the close, cross-market manipulation, and information leakage
  • Assess whether suspicious activity patterns are appropriately identified, escalated, closed, or recommended for further investigation
  • Review surveillance outputs for consistency with market conduct expectations and financial markets compliance standards
  • Evaluate AI-generated surveillance alerts, case narratives, investigation summaries, and regulatory reasoning
  • Assess trade surveillance workflows, alert investigation methodology, escalation logic, and case documentation quality
  • Identify weak conclusions, missing evidence, unsupported escalation decisions, or incomplete investigative reasoning
  • Validate whether surveillance conclusions align with applicable regulations, internal control expectations, and industry best practices
  • Develop, refine, or apply surveillance evaluation rubrics for market abuse and conduct monitoring scenarios
  • Provide clear written feedback on AI-generated compliance outputs, surveillance narratives, and investigative conclusions
  • Explain review decisions with strong regulatory judgment, market structure awareness, and attention to detail
  • Follow detailed task instructions, quality criteria, and project-specific review guidelines accurately
