About The Position

Barton & Gray Mariners Club is revolutionizing the yachting industry with best-in-class hospitality. As an exclusive yachting club, we provide private and memorable outings across 35+ stunning harbors. With our expanding footprint, we are looking for a dedicated and experienced marine varnisher to coordinate our varnish process in Stonington, CT.

Requirements

Must be able to lift and carry 50lbs
Must to able to climb ladders and scaffolding when necessary
Must be able to maneuver about vessels, both on and off the water
Must be able to wear a respirator and other PPE as required
Experience working in environments where VOC chemicals (e.g., epoxy, urethane) are present
Must be able to kneel, crouch, and reach overhead frequently

Responsibilities

Brightwork maintenance and repair efforts aboard Barton & Gray’s fleet of vessels.
Assist in the daily scheduling of the varnish team, increase productivity and target priority vessels.
Work with Service Managers to strategically plan shoulder season, winter maintenance and service rotation boats to ensure all applicable varnish needs are met.
Product ordering for all supplies via the parts department.
Help to train and support junior members of the team.
Ensure job completion and cleanliness on all vessels.
Maintain a positive working relationship with all departments.
Travel throughout the Northeast and Southeast as needed for varnish maintenance.
Maintain a safe, clean, and efficient service environment.
Provide accurate reporting of brightwork conditions across the fleet.
Lead by example in all safety practices by consistently following and enforcing company safety standards, ensuring employees are properly trained, addressing unsafe behaviors or conditions promptly, and fostering a culture where safety is everyone’s responsibility
