About The Position

Global is currently seeking a versatile and motivated Marine Services Technician to join our team located in Seattle, WA. This person will be responsible for safe, efficient, reliable, and environmentally compliant deckhand duties. This is a full-time, entry-level position with a rotating schedule.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent)
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • All employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen
  • Must be able to pass a DOT physical
  • Carry a valid Driver's License and valid car insurance
  • TWIC CARD (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) or ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment
  • Washington State Boater Education Card or ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ years of Maritime experience
  • 24 or 40-hour HAZWOPER
  • First Aid/AED/CPR Card

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for getting underway, mooring, anchoring, and line-handling in all weather conditions.
  • Assist with the towing, deploying, and stowing of the oil containment boom
  • Control lines to moor vessel to wharves, tie up vessel to another vessel, or rig towing lines.
  • Splice and repair cables and ropes using hand tools
  • Boom and Fender maintenance
  • Perform lookout duties while underway, including watching for other vessels, monitoring traffic conditions and potentially unsafe conditions onboard, and other such duties.
  • Keep the vessel and equipment maintained by performing various maintenance and cleaning duties.
  • Maintain clear communication with the Vessel Operator.
  • Ensure that safety equipment is utilized and appropriate guidelines are followed for all tasks involving physical risk or hazardous materials.
  • Carry out and complete assigned tasks within the legal requirements of USCG and other regulatory agencies.
  • Participate in meetings, training, drills, and safety audits as required by USCG & Global’s policy.
  • Read, understand, and comply with all company policies and applicable federal, state, and industry regulations.
  • Ensure full understanding of the duties of every job you are working on.
  • Drive company vehicles as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
