Job Summary: The Marine Service Technicians are responsible for ensuring the safety and compliance of marine vessels by assisting in the performance of firefighting inspections according to US Coast Guard (USCG) and American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) codes.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of offshore experience servicing systems.
  • Valid driver's license from state of residence and valid proof of vehicle insurance
  • Reliable transportation
  • Clean driving record
  • OPITO approved THUET with CA-EBS
  • Current or able to obtain Louisiana State Fire Marshal endorsement in Fire Alarm, Fixed Fire Suppression and Fire Extinguishers and Hoses
  • Current TWIC card or able to obtain
  • Safe Gulf Certification
  • Valid Passport or ability to obtain
  • Must be willing to work offshore for long periods of time
  • Good mechanical and electrical skills
  • High quality communication skills
  • Knowledge of basic safety standards with the ability to learn industry standards.
  • Self-motivated to learn codes and regulations associated with marine fire protection.
  • Effective customer service and communication skills.
  • Detail oriented and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Working knowledge of test equipment.
  • Strong work ethic and integrity.
  • Perform work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, and lift equipment.
  • Proficient in the use of computer programs such as Word, Excel, & Outlook and the ability to work on tablet/phone-based applications.
  • Good time-management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in performing firefighting inspections per USCG and ABS Codes.
  • Learn and Understand the “Scope of Work” for all inspections.
  • Utilize smart device applications to manage / schedule inspection documentation.
  • Complete all required paperwork and upload to database.
  • Document required deficiencies and items required for repair.
  • Manage customer expectations to maintain excellent customer relations.
