Requirements

Professional Painting Experience: Minimum of 2 years of hands-on painting experience, in a marine or industrial environment
Tool & Material Familiarity: Solid understanding of painting tools, equipment, and a variety of paints and finishes commonly used in marine settings
Surface Preparation Knowledge: Skilled in surface prep techniques including sanding, masking, chemical stripping, and grit blasting
Chemical Compound Knowledge: Familiar with the safe handling, application, and disposal of paints, solvents, and other chemical compounds
Attention to Detail: Highly organized with a keen eye for detail to ensure clean, precise finishes and adherence to project specifications
Communication: Strong verbal communication skills to coordinate with team members and supervisors effectively
Reliability: Punctual with a strong attendance record, dependable under varying job site conditions
Safety-Oriented: Committed to maintaining a safe work environment and following all safety regulations and protocols including proper use of personal protective equipment
Teamwork & Independence: Capable of working independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively within a team environment

Responsibilities

Shipboard interior and exterior painting
Measure surfaces to be painted and determine the required quantity and type of paint
Identify, mix (if needed), and order appropriate paint colors and finishes
Prepare surfaces by removing previous coatings using chemical, grit blast, pressure wash, or other approved methods
Mask, cover, or remove furniture, hardware, trim, and other non-painted items to protect them
Apply paint to interior and exterior surfaces using a variety of tools such as brushes, rollers, sprayers, airbrushes, and stencils
Perform basic stencil and line painting, including marking factory floors, parking lots, and similar surfaces
Adhere to all regulations and best practices for the storage and disposal of chemicals and waste
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors or project leads
