About The Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Marine Operations Engineer, Surface Maritime, to join Anduril, working in a cutting-edge start-up environment to advance the state-of-the-possible in surface vessel autonomy. You will work closely with program leadership and across departments to help build a team focused on solving hard problems and changing the industry forever. In this role you will be responsible for supporting the field operations and maintenance planning and execution for multiple surface vessels. Requirements

  • Valid USCG Merchant Mariner Credential as a Second Assistant Engineer (or higher) of Motor Vessels, Unlimited Horsepower, with current STCW Endorsements
  • 5+ years experience operating at-sea, ideally with experience on autonomous vessels or vessels with a high degree of system automation
  • Ability to adapt quickly and learn in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment
  • Knowledge of electronics troubleshooting and basic use of test and maintenance equipment
  • Very organized and detail-oriented
  • Demonstrated experience with development of operational procedures and equipment
  • Excellent communication and customer support skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to be in office in Costa Mesa, CA daily when not deployed
  • Ability to deploy up to 50% of the time
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating and testing complex systems in a maritime environment
  • Experience integrating surface and airborne sensors, surface vessel navigation, and communication systems
  • Demonstrated experience with marine operational procedures and equipment
  • Ability to speak a foreign language
  • Experience with initial vessel delivery and light-off procedures and procedure development
  • Proficient in reading and understanding engineering drawings and specifications

Responsibilities

  • Work within a dynamic team of multidisciplinary engineers and specialists throughout the life of ASV design, integration, and test efforts
  • Take on the principal responsibilities of the hands-on troubleshooting, repair, operation, and maintenance of ASVs in the field
  • Conduct day-to-day local operations for multiple ASV platforms, including conducting pre-mission testing, vehicle tasking, and data analysis
  • Deploy globally in support of at-sea ASV operations from a variety of support vessel types
  • Write, review, and execute test plans during at-sea testing
  • Coordinate underway event execution with 3rd party vendors, partners, and logistics companies
  • Author detailed daily operational reports to document the step-by-step execution of internal and customer facing efforts
  • Support software UI design for ASV systems
  • Support development of user documentation for all aspects of ASV operations
  • Enable local ASV operations, including supporting multiple nearshore at-sea days per week
  • Travel and support customer facing operations approximately 50% of the time
