About The Position

Bureau Veritas Marine, Inc. (Plantation, FL) seeks a Marine Operational Center Surveyor to provide technical support to the Units of the Marine Operational Center (MOC) Americas and to Units worldwide for ships connected to the MOC Americas. This role involves issuing instructions for various surveys, reviewing survey reports, approving emergency plans and manuals, interpreting technical drawings, and issuing certificates. The position is located within our City office in Country and offers a supportive and collaborative learning environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or closely related field.
• Three (3) years of experience in the marine industry.
• Experience must include application of the following: Inspection and verification of Life-saving appliances and survival crafts on board cargo ships.
• Involvement in audits and work on corrective actions for findings related to statutory maritime regulations: Maritime Labour Convention, International Safety Management (ISM) code.
• Involvement in cargo ships dry dock and retrofit projects.
• Application of common cargo vessels regulations from the International Maritime Organization (IMO) such as International Convention for the Safety of Life At Sea (SOLAS), the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollutions from Ships.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to Units of the Marine Operational Center (MOC) Americas and to Units worldwide for ships connected to the MOC Americas.
• Issue instructions for surveys in case of transfer of classification, Class Re-assignment, Change of flag, postponements, ship conversion, initial Statutory surveys, and other cases as deemed necessary (client’s complaint, request from Survey Center).
• Review survey reports for validation and updating.
• Review and approve Shipboard Oil Pollution Emergency Plan (SOPEP), Shipboard Marine Pollution Emergency Plan (SMPEP), and Ship-to-Ship (STS) transfer manuals.
• Review and interpret various maritime technical drawings (such as firefighting systems, cargo systems, and ballast systems).
• Issue Class attestations, service supplier certificates, Classification certificates and permanent Statutory certificates (on behalf of administrations).
• Liaise with Plan Review Offices and Flag Administrations for operational matters.
