About The Position

Mills Marine and Ship Repair, LLC (Mills Marine) is currently seeking an individual to support Touch Labor at Huntington Ingalls Shipyard (HII). This role involves working on U.S. Naval Surface Ship and Submarine platforms, performing tasks related to insulation removal and installation.

Requirements

• A minimum of a high school diploma and/or successful completion of a related trade or industrial school.
• A minimum of four (4) years of verifiable experience in the assigned trade in an industrial environment i.e., shipbuilding, ship repair or nuclear power plants.
• A minimum of two (2) years work experience on U.S. Navy ships/vessels.
• Completed a formal course of study in the assigned trade through either a community college, technical or trade school, military training, formal company training program or an apprentice program.
• Possess knowledge of the different types of insulation and lagging materials for the proper applications in accordance with applicable professional/trade standards and practices in a Shipyard or Marine Industrial written instruction.
• Possess knowledge of securing methods like wiring, pasting, and strapping.
• Possess knowledge of cutting, shaping irregular bends for pipe, fittings, valve, and other equipment.
• Trained to meet environmental requirements to acquire, apply, remove, and dispose of installation waste or residuals in accordance with OSHA requirements.
• Trained in the typical trade related tools and instruments.
• Trained and experienced in working with schematics and technical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Remove/Install high temperature and anti-sweat foam plastic, acoustical insulation, finishing cement, calcium silicate, molded sectional, fiberglass cloth.
• Remove/Install portable insulation pads associated with the U.S. Naval Surface Ship and Submarine platforms in accordance with the requirements of NAVSEA Standard Item 009-11.
