About The Position

This position is contingent upon contract award. The Marine Gas Turbine Inspector – Subject Matter Expert Trainer supports Commander, Naval Surface Forces, Pacific Fleet (CNSP) as part of the Readiness Assistance Training Team (RATT). The RATT provides direct, Sailor-centric training and technical assistance to surface ships to improve technical proficiency, material condition, organic repair capability, and overall readiness. Serving as the team's gas turbine propulsion inspection specialist, the Marine Gas Turbine Inspector provides expert-level technical guidance on marine gas turbine propulsion systems and supporting equipment. The SME works directly with shipboard personnel to identify root causes of equipment and system failures, strengthen operations and maintenance practices, and improve the crew's ability to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot gas turbine propulsion systems.

Requirements

  • Minimum 15 years of supervisory-level watchstanding experience aboard warships or military auxiliaries with gas turbine main propulsion
  • Experience serving as an Engineering Officer of the Watch (EOOW), Propulsion Plant Watch Officer, Chief Engineer, or equivalent position responsible for overall propulsion plant operations and associated control and auxiliary systems
  • Minimum 15 years of experience conducting marine gas turbine inspections aboard surface warships or military auxiliaries
  • Qualified and certified as a U.S. Navy Marine Gas Turbine Inspector or equivalent
  • At least two tours of experience as a Navy Marine Gas Turbine Inspector supporting Navy surface ship maintenance processes
  • Extensive Navy technical management experience across multiple ships
  • Extensive experience serving as an EOOW aboard multiple gas turbine-powered ships
  • Direct operational and maintenance experience within the last five years with U.S. Navy systems including: Gas turbine main propulsion systems, Gas turbine generators, Associated control systems, Associated auxiliary systems
  • Ability and willingness to support extensive CONUS and OCONUS travel for shipboard RATT visits
  • Must possess and maintain a SECRET clearance

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert-level technical guidance on marine gas turbine propulsion systems and supporting equipment.
  • Work directly with shipboard personnel to identify root causes of equipment and system failures.
  • Strengthen operations and maintenance practices.
  • Improve the crew's ability to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot gas turbine propulsion systems.
