About The Position

Gulf Marine Repair is seeking a skilled Marine Electrician for their 1st shift operations. This role involves the repair and maintenance of electrical systems on marine vessels, requiring a strong understanding of electrical principles and practical application. The ideal candidate will be adept at troubleshooting, diagnostics, and installation, ensuring all work adheres to safety standards.

  • Knowledge of methods, techniques, materials, and tools used in the installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems/subsystems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems using blueprints and schematics.
  • Must be able to work with and maintain high voltage 2300 volts and less.
  • Ability to analyze blueprints, schematics, and drawings of electrical systems for the purpose of determining the efficient installation of new or upgraded system.
  • Ability to diagnose electrical problems or failures for the purpose of identifying equipment and/or system repairs.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot and repair electrical components and/or systems like: motors, motor controls, circuits, transformers, generators, compressors, switches, welding machines, drill press, drills, grinders, heavy equipment, cranes, lathes.
  • Must be able to identify and be familiar with: millimeters, voltmeters, manometers, high voltage meters, clamp on amp meters, infrared heat guns, basic electrical tools, crimping tools (manual and hydraulic), conduit pipe benders.

Nice To Haves

  • Shipyard experience is a plus!
  • Electrical Trade Certificate or Diploma.
  • Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET) (if offshore assignments are required).
  • Working at Heights certification.
  • Confined Space Entry certification.
  • First Aid/CPR certification (preferred).
  • Valid electrical safety training (LOTO, Electrical Safety Awareness, or equivalent).
