About The Position

Everforth ECS is seeking a remote Marine Electrical Engineer and licensed Professional Engineer with expertise in shipboard electrical engineering and shipboard electronics. The engineer will lead technical design, development, and integration for commercial and governmental marine vessels, with technical ownership of SWBS Groups 300 (Electric Plant) and automated control segments of Group 400 (Command & Surveillance). The role includes authority to review, verify, and stamp engineering design packages, calculations, and specifications as required. The engineer will design power generation, distribution, and conversion systems for ship-service and emergency loads; develop electrical load analyses, short-circuit calculations, and arc-flash studies; and integrate hybrid or electric propulsion architectures, switchboards, and marine cabling networks. The role also supports applicable regulatory and classification certifications, including Safe Return to Port, ACCU, and Dynamic Positioning Systems requirements. Drawings for associated systems are developed with CAD drafter assistance. The position supports projects throughout the design spiral, shipyard construction, commissioning, and in-service modifications or drydocking. It requires coordination with other SWBS leads on interfaces such as weight, stability, power, ship services, and structures; review of designs and incorporation of feedback or scope changes; and preparation and presentation of technical materials for audiences including senior executives. Some travel may be required. Salary is $116,000–$165,000, based on experience; compensation is also commensurate with education.

Requirements

  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Naval Architecture or a related field; the role specifies a PE in Electrical Engineering.
  • B.S. or M.S. in Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • 5–20+ years of progressive maritime or heavy industrial engineering experience.
  • Deep knowledge of marine classification standards for electrical systems, such as IEEE 45.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard 2D/3D CAD and CAE/FEA software suites.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a demonstrated ability to communicate clearly with engineering leadership and waterfront trades.
  • Effective communication with internal and external personnel across varying levels of technical expertise.
  • Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with remote team members and customers.
