About The Position

This position is part-time scheduled for 19 hours per week including weekends. Under the supervision of the Marina Manager, the Marina Worker performs an array of duties to aid in the mitigation of environmental effects, hurricane preparedness, and general carpentry. The employee aids in the organization of boat slips and the overall management of vessels. The employee interacts with the members and the public to provide and array of customer service to include responding to requests and addressing inquiries. This job is considered safety-sensitive and is subject to a pre-employment background check and random drug screenings.

Requirements

  • Possess a high school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of previous work experience at a marina.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of previous work experience performing electrical, plumbing, and carpentry work.
  • Possess a current and valid drivers’ license; vessel designation is preferred; must be insurable.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and an initial drug screen.
  • Ability to swim.

Responsibilities

  • Performs general cleaning, landscape, and operational duties of the Marina to maintain a clean and safe environment that is free of debris and assists customers.
  • Empties all garbage and trash receptacles; cleans when necessary.
  • Cleans and disinfects public areas such as bathrooms and offices.
  • Cleans and maintains the general appearance of the facilities to include power washing and light painting.
  • Performs minor landscaping duties to include cutting shrubs, trimming limbs, weed eating, and cutting grass.
  • Cleans and maintains any public beach areas to include removing and discarding trash, debris, and waste.
  • Assesses the dock for damages to include loose or damaged boards or screws and nails.
  • Checks the dock to make sure all boats are secure and clear the dock areas and pilings; makes sure boats are not hitting the docks and pilings.
  • Assists with assigning slips to all vessels to ensure appropriate vessels fit in the designated areas.
  • Assist boat owners in movement, maneuvers, and parking of vessels.
  • Utilizes small tools and equipment to perform dock maintenance and repairs.
  • Responds to requests and addresses customers’ inquires.
  • Fuels boats for customers.
  • Assists with performing duties to address impending hurricanes by taking appropriate actions and steps to aid in ensuring safety and that no damages exist.
  • Monitors potential threats of storms and hurricanes; assists with appropriate procedures and protocol.
  • Assists with breaking down the Marina to include disassembling plumbing and electrical systems.
  • Assists with inspecting boats and vessels to determine the appropriate location.
  • Relocates vessels to the bay area for safety issues.
  • Anchors vessels to ensure vessels are steady and will remain in place.
  • Ties vessels to ensure stability.
  • Performs general maintenance and repairs of the facility to include carpentry, plumbing, and electrical duties.
  • Utilizes small tools and equipment for facility maintenance and repairs.
  • Performs repairs to the docks to include replacing decay wood and replacing boards.
  • Troubleshoots plumbing issues and performs minor plumbing repairs.
  • Troubleshoots electrical issues and performs minor electrical repairs.
  • Constructs and build small structures for the facility.
  • Performs other job-related duties as required or assigned.
