About The Position

This position is responsible for performing moderate manufacturing weld fabrications of various products and components. The MFG Welder 3 demonstrates proficiency as a welder and fabricator in the following of established procedures and guidelines; understanding drawings and blueprints, adhere to the standard procedures in the use of equipment when engaging in any fabrication processes. Able to work independently or as a member of a team to provide fabrication services that satisfy customer needs and achieve departmental goals. Mid-level position – Generally has a minimum of four years of experience and/or demonstrated job relevant knowledge/skills and has obtained welding certifications in the FCAW and GMAW welding processes (1-4 G/F). The MFG Welder 3 has moderate knowledge of standard and technical concepts, practices, and procedures; performs a variety of standard, complex, and technical tasks; is indirectly supervised and self-starting; and a team member of product production workflow. The incumbent in this position is expected to model the following practices on a daily basis: 1) Demonstrate alignment with the company's mission and core business values; 2) Collaborate with key internal/external resources; 3) Participate in ongoing self-development.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • A minimum of four years’ of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience required; six or more years preferred
  • Multiple Welding Certifications required in the FCAW and GMAW welding processes in the 1-4 G/F positions
  • Valid Driver’s license required
  • Significant amount of time standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, stooping, climbing, and reaching
  • Constant movement and use of limbs, hands, this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina
  • Ascends/descends with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet and climbs up and down ladders and/or equipment
  • Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work
  • Be able to maneuver safely and work underneath equipment
  • Frequently lifts and moves materials and equipment up to 50 lb.
  • Must be able to move objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue
  • May be required to work in confined work spaces, awkward positions and high places
  • Requires wearing proper protective and safety equipment (PPE)
  • Regularly works indoors around moving equipment and exposed to flashes of light from welding, and loud noise levels; may be exposed to weather extremes when working outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity
  • Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, dust, steam, high-pressure water and high speed rotating equipment
  • Required to perform work in cramped spaces and/or on elevated surfaces
  • Possible exposure to minor burns and cuts – must be reported for proper treatment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of weld equipment and dimensional tools, including their uses, and maintenance
  • Demonstrated knowledge of specification and drawing interpretations; e.g. drawings, blueprints and computers and use of equipment needed to fabricate and perform the tasks at hand
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with welding symbols, construction math
  • Demonstrated knowledge with current computer software, related hardware and machine electronic systems
  • Demonstrates proficiency skill with a cutting torch, layout and fit up tools, blueprints, drawings, and defined welding processes
  • The ability to demonstrate technical skills as a skilled welder and fabricator to effectively perform assigned welding tasks
  • Adaptable to changing schedules and exhibits time management skills
  • Ability to follow logical troubleshooting and standard operating procedures when performing welding processes
  • Ability to develop thinking and problem solving skills to learn and understand Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) process
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with a strong work ethic being dependable, reliable and honest with demonstrated integrity
  • Ability to read, write, and understand information
  • Ability to follow standard work to ensure quality work
  • Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment used in fabrication and welding
  • Required PC skills to use MS Office and Holt Operating System (DBS, SIS, Epicor)
  • Must complete Value Based Leadership training to include: Principles of Persuasion (POP), DiSC II – Behaviors and Motivators

Responsibilities

  • Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission
  • Performs in accordance to guidelines and procedures with proper setup and fabrication of sub-assemblies and full product utilizing various tools and fixtures
  • Assists with developing new fabrication weldment procedures utilizing drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols in coordination with current standard work
  • Participates in Rapid Improvement Workshops (RIWs) and Kiazen events to continuously improve processes, safety, and quality
  • Performs skills to interpret blueprints, drawings, and all welding processes through weld symbols and call outs
  • Performs basic skills to complete work orders, fabrication, and welding on product and their components
  • Ensures all weldments are in compliance with specific welding codes, procedures, and quality standards
  • Performs moderate oxy/acetylene torch and plasma cutting, and welding of multiple different welding processes
  • Performs and completes tasks with minimal supervision
  • Assists with coaching and mentoring other MFG Welders
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; (e.g., ProTech Welder Training Paths)
  • Performs processes as outlined in Standard Work to develop and maintain consistency between shifts and areas
  • Transports material in area or between areas utilizing overhead crane, jibs, carts, magnets and other devices
  • Works as a member of the manufacturing team to provide high quality products that satisfy the customer (internal and external) and achieves manufacturing goals
  • Maintains the performance of equipment and work area through regular operator checks and maintenance resulting in operational equipment and work areas in good, clean, and orderly condition (Operator Performed Maintenance – OPM, and 5S)
  • Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
  • Adheres to contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations
  • Performs training and development of new and existing team members
  • Performs quality inspections, complete reports, documents, and/or any other necessary paperwork, and enforces required rework prior to customer
  • Works overtime as required by workload and customers’ needs
  • Requires regular and punctual employee attendance
  • Performs other duties as assigned
