About The Position

The Manufacturing Test Engineer will drive the development and deployment of hardware test systems with manufacturing partners and third-party integrators. This role involves defining the overall product test strategy, evaluating test equipment and qualification processes, and leading the integration of test systems into data tracking networks and factory control systems. The engineer will design and document new manufacturing equipment with a focus on standardization and reliability, create test plans for validating existing equipment, and troubleshoot hardware and software issues on test equipment and automation systems. The position requires independent planning and execution of projects within a cross-functional team, enforcing manufacturability, testability, and cost-effective designs for testing and automation systems. Responsibilities include NPI test development and sustaining support for production-released tests and automation systems.

Requirements

B.S. or M.S. degree in engineering or equivalent experience
4+ years of experience in consumer electronic product development and volume manufacturing or related experiences
Experience in Camera, Audio, RF, Sensing, Battery, SMT, Display, Optical testing, has an in-depth understanding in one or more of these areas
Experience with domestic and/or international consumer electronics vendors and supply chain management
Understanding of the fundamental considerations of building hardware in the development and volume production stages
Experience in managing detailed test coverages and improving test efficiency in the engineering and production phase
Experience in test automation and test frameworks to enable comprehensive test coverage
Experience managing vendor engineers and technicians, and building teams that deliver effective technical outcomes

Experience with module and system test and manufacturing processes with direct experience in managing manufacturing test implementation and execution

Responsibilities

Develop and implement the manufacturing test strategy during the NPI and MP phases of the product lifecycle. Work with cross-functional teams to design and deploy the test solutions.
Work with the Engineering and Capital Expenditure team to identify the most suitable supplier/partner to meet product requirements from both a technical perspective as well as supply chain and manufacturing considerations.
Develop test requirements and methodology with the Engineering team, implement manufacturing tests at factory sites, troubleshoot and solve issues during product development and manufacturing ramp up.
Interface directly with the Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality, and vendor teams to assist in the development of test procedures, including first article, reliability, environmental, production, and final acceptance testing.
Work directly with the vendor and CM engineers providing guidance and support as necessary in test methods, equipment, and test set-ups.
Coordination of travel to suppliers (foreign and domestic) to establish technical and manufacturing processes required during product development and volume manufacturing ramp, international and domestic travel up to 40%.
