About The Position

Anduril is seeking a Manufacturing Test Engineer to develop and implement high-fidelity automated test procedures for components and complete systems in a fast-paced subsea robotics manufacturing environment. The role works closely with engineering staff and electro-mechanical technicians to advance testing capabilities, ensure product quality and reliability, and support scalable production operations. The engineer will build test capabilities across the manufacturing value stream, from component-level in-process validation through system checkout and acceptance testing. The role includes developing test systems and procedures, performing hands-on and data-driven root cause analysis, supporting product development and production deployment, training technicians, and maintaining test documentation and troubleshooting resources. It also includes designing and executing end-of-line factory acceptance tests for autonomous underwater vehicles, as well as hands-on testing and rework of PCBAs and electrical system components.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electro-Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience in hardware testing and automated test systems, such as LabVIEW or TestStand.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, or shell scripting, or others.
  • Experience with computer hardware communication protocols such as USB, Ethernet, RS232, RS485, PCIe, HDMI, and CAN.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a relevant field; test design of electromechanical hardware in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of complex electromechanical systems and interest in making them work reliably.
  • Experience developing full-system test plans and executing them on fast-paced product development timelines.
  • Experience programming and testing a wide range of sensors, actuators, and electrical components.
  • Ability to prototype and run tests, from experimental setup through hardware and software implementation.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in subsea robotics or AUV/UUV industries.
  • Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems, Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), and Test Execution Systems (TES).
  • Ability to learn new skills and adapt to new situations, including challenges outside traditional areas of work experience.
  • A multidisciplinary approach to problem solving.
  • Comfort with high project ownership under technical and schedule pressure, especially when scope and definition are limited.
  • Experience testing and operating with or around hazardous systems, including high voltage up to 400V.
  • Experience on projects integrating electrical, mechanical, and software or firmware systems.

Responsibilities

  • Build test capabilities across the manufacturing value stream, including system-level checkouts and acceptance testing and component-level in-process validation.
  • Develop, execute, and manage a test ecosystem to de-risk hardware and ensure products meet reliability targets and design intent.
  • Perform hands-on and data-driven root cause analysis of electromechanical subsystems using structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Design and implement semi-automated testing equipment and protocols for subsystem characterization and reliability and environmental testing.
  • Collaborate with design and systems teams throughout product development cycles to perform risk assessments.
  • Own test deployment activities in production, oversee technician training, and resolve bugs and implement improvements as needed.
  • Produce and maintain testing logs and data, and develop an error-code library with troubleshooting logic and diagrams.
  • Generate controlled test instructions that technicians can follow in MES or other test execution systems.
  • Optimize the design and execution of full-system end-of-line factory acceptance testing of AUVs.
  • Design and execute testing of PCBAs and electrical system components, performing hands-on testing and rework as necessary.

Benefits

  • Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full-time offers and are considered part of total compensation.
  • Top-tier benefits for full-time employees, including a comprehensive, competitive package available at little to no cost to employees.
