Manufacturing Test Engineer
About The Position
We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Test Engineer with a proven track record of developing automated test solutions using NI TestStand, LabVIEW, and Python. You will design and build robust, scalable test systems integrating custom hardware fixtures, instrumentation, and embedded Device Under Test (DUT) interfaces for high-volume production environments. This is a hands-on role in a small, specialized team where everyone rolls up their sleeves and contributes across the full stack, from fixture design to production deployment. This role reports into the MTAC EVS group within the Global Operations organization.
Requirements
- BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of relevant work experience in manufacturing test engineering, test system development, or related automation roles.
- Proficiency in Python for test automation, data analysis, scripting, and tool development.
- Proficiency in LabVIEW for instrument control, test sequencing, and production test applications.
- Proficiency in NI TestStand for test sequence development, execution, deployment, and results management in manufacturing environments.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain manufacturing test software using Python, LabVIEW, and NI TestStand for automated test execution across multiple product lines.
- Develop and integrate test sequences in NI TestStand for production-level functional, parametric, and calibration testing.
- Create and maintain custom test fixture designs, interface boards, and wiring harnesses for DUT connectivity.
- Develop instrument control drivers and DUT communication APIs using Python, LabVIEW, and/or C/C++.
- Collaborate with product design teams to define Design for Testability (DFT) requirements and implement test strategies from New Product Introduction (NPI) through volume production.
- Analyze test data, establish statistical pass/fail limits, and drive yield improvements using SPC, GR&R, and Cp/Cpk methodologies.
- Debug and troubleshoot complex test failures spanning software, firmware, hardware, and mechanical interfaces; support the manufacturing team in resolving production issues.
- Document test procedures, test specifications, software design documents, and acceptance criteria for new and existing products.
- Propose design changes that enhance product manufacturability and testability; evaluate and approve electro-mechanical Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
- Support End of Line (EOL) test stations at local contract manufacturers and system integrators.
- Review industry trends and new test equipment to ensure test methods are current.
- Develop or implement manufacturing test strategies and solutions for robotic manipulation applications.
