Manufacturing Technician 1-3rd Shift
About The Position
The Composite Technician 3rd Shift places resin pre-impregnated fabrics and tapes onto layup molds using hands, wrists, and arms to apply pressure and remove air pockets. This role requires knowledge of fabric direction and ply orientation. The technician handles preparing adhesive, core, and other layup materials, cuts vacuum bag materials, and creates vacuum bags. They prepare parts for transfer to the autoclave department and ensure layups and vacuum bags are prepared according to the requirements of manufacturing travelers. The ideal candidate learns quickly, works efficiently, minimizes errors, produces high-quality work, collaborates well with others, and is focused on task completion.
Requirements
- Requires a High School Diploma/GED or combination of relevant education and work experience may be substituted to meet educational requirements only.
- Entry level – one (1) years relevant experience.
- Proficiency in operating electrical lab test equipment.
- Basic computer skills in office management software (MS Office Applications).
- Possesses high mechanical aptitude.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to follow instructions explicitly or innovate, depending on situation.
- Possesses strong problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to handle multiple projects and to work alongside peers.
- Ability to manage time to get work completed on schedule.

Responsibilities
- Read and follow basic instructions and diagrams in English.
- Use basic shop math skills to record information such as freezer out-time, or mixture weights.
- Follow standard shop practices and quality standards in the aerospace industry.
- Prepare molds using shop-approved release agents.
- Layup materials to molds and remove air pockets using approved hands, squeegees, and heat guns.
- Occasionally mix resins and catalysts as specified.
- Trim laminated fabric using scissors or knives without damaging the layup mold.
- Perform physical and environmental checks and document work for manufacturing travelers.
- Builds semi-complex ply-buildups under minimal supervision, ensuring that the plies are well-compacted.
- Vacuum bag parts applying best practices, ensuring that the vacuum bags do not leak during cure.
- Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance is required.
- Must be able to work 3rd shift hours - 11:30p-8:00am plus overtime as necessary.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.

- Reports promptly any suspected or potential violations to laws, regulations, procedures, policies, and practices, and cooperates in related investigation.
