About The Position

The Manufacturing Technician supports manufacturing engineering and production operations through equipment troubleshooting, machine setups, assembly line configuration, process optimization, and continuous improvement activities. This role works closely with Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and Tool Room personnel to improve manufacturing processes, support production readiness, and resolve operational issues. The Manufacturing Technician provides hands-on technical support to enhance safety, quality, productivity, and overall manufacturing performance while assisting with machine setups and assembly line changes as needed.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience as a technician or operator in a manufacturing environment.
  • Work is performed primarily in a manufacturing environment with exposure to moving machinery, noise, dust, vibration, and varying temperatures.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, and climbing may be required throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to safely lift, carry, push, and pull up to 35 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Requires visual acuity and manual dexterity necessary to inspect parts, operate equipment, use measurement devices, and complete technical documentation.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed footwear, and other required safety equipment, is mandatory.
  • May require overtime, extended shifts, and weekend work to support production requirements and project activities.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all Hubbell and Industry safety guidelines and requirements.
  • Work alongside manufacturing engineering and operations to troubleshoot problems that arise within implementation of any of the below tasks.
  • Assist engineers to identify and implement new tooling and fixturing to support and improve processes.
  • Work alongside manufacturing engineering to analyze, identify, design and successfully implement improved manufacturing techniques and processes in work cells.
  • Work alongside manufacturing engineering to analyze, identify and implement replacement machinery and equipment to improve throughput of various production processes.
  • Aid manufacturing engineering in defining requirements and guidelines for replacement equipment and processes from outside vendors.
  • Assist and lead with the creation of standard work instructions, setup instructions, operator autonomous maintenance checklists, and other technical documents as required.
  • Work with machine operators and manufacturing engineering directly to provide continuous improvement support to optimize the production process.
  • Utilize root cause analysis techniques (RCA) to determine root issues and collaboratively develop alternative solutions.
  • Operate as a liaison for operations, tool rooms, and engineering to prioritize work and streamline communication.
  • Work directly with tool rooms to generate physical solutions to support production and operations.
  • Able to read, interpret, and understand blueprints and electrical schematics.
  • Develop detailed understanding of processes and equipment to identify and solve process issues through troubleshooting, data analysis, and collaboration with stakeholders across the Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, and Quality teams.
  • Support process validation projects by aiding with set-ups, engineering studies, and related testing.
  • Provide administrative support such as developing and updating manufacturing documentation and tracking and reporting on process performance.
  • Support execution of projects including DMAIC, LEAN, 5S, cost reduction and process improvement initiatives.
  • Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean.
  • Ensure that equipment is in safe operating condition.
  • Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties.
  • Verify conformance of work to specifications in conjunction with Quality Auditors.
  • Exhibit quality workmanship that adheres to engineering and customer specifications.
  • Works in a timely, efficient manner to meet all daily performance objectives.
  • Maintains tools and equipment in proper working condition.
  • Able to read and understand posted bulletins, regulations, rulebooks, manufacturer manuals, and work instructions.
  • Able to work in a team environment which requires cooperating with others, offering help when needed, and maintaining positive work relationships.

  • Able to lift 35lbs consistently.
  • Ability to work 10 hours per day and flexibility to work on the weekend in accordance with the needs of the business.
