About The Position

Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking a Manufacturing Technician – Level 3 to join our team in Chandler, AZ. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work. Relocation assistance is not available. This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 4 years additional education and/or related experience within manufacturing.
  • Proficient with work instructions, engineering drawings, and technical manuals to perform a variety of electro/mechanical assembly operations on moderate to complex assemblies and sub-assemblies used in the aerospace industry
  • Experience with connector population, wire cutting, contact crimping, wire/cable routing, component installation, hardware torque and general mechanical assembly of chassis, racks, test sets and/or other electrical-mechanical boxes
  • Proficient in the use of hand tools such as crimpers, strippers, cordless drill and rotary tools
  • Document actions by completing production plans and complying with quality standards and requirements
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings, instructions, parts lists, and schematics
  • Ability to identify problems and troubleshoot to develop, evaluate options and propose solutions
  • Physical ability to perform the job while prioritizing safety. This frequently includes lifting up to 20lbs, sitting, standing, bending, kneeling, stooping, pushing, pulling, grasping and climbing.

  • Active or ability to obtain a U.S. Government Security clearance of Secret or above
  • Familiar with Northrop Grumman processes
  • Knowledge of ESD, FOD, and tool control
  • J-STD-001 Certification (Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies)
  • IPC-A-610 Certification (Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies)
  • IPC/WHMA-A-620 Certification (Requirements and Acceptance for Cable and Wire Harness Assemblies)

Responsibilities

  • Perform functions associated with all manufacturing operations, including working with engineers in set-up and calibration tasks, as well as performing rework and quality testing related to the production of parts, components, subassemblies and final assemblies.
  • Use sophisticated programs to collect and evaluate operating data to conduct on-line adjustments to products, instruments or equipment.
  • Determine and may assist in developing methods and procedures to control or modify the manufacturing process.
  • Work with engineers in conducting experiments.
