Come be a part of our mission. Northrop Grumman Mission Enabling Products Organization is currently looking for a Manufacturing Technician 1 to work in our San Diego, CA location. Successful candidate will work 1st Shift (5:00am – 2:30pm). The Manufacturing Technician 1 position performs functions associated with all manufacturing operations in Precision Assembly and panel fabrication.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent and or 0 - 2 years additional education and/or related discipline
  • Experience working in a composites/manufacturing environment (space/satellite structures, aerospace manufacturing environment)
  • Demonstrated Mechanical Ability.
  • Able to read, write and work to written instructions, blueprints, or shop drawings in English.
  • Proficient use of basic shop arithmetic.
  • Ability to work under limited supervision.
  • Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to be on feet for up to 8+ hours each day.
  • Ability to work Overtime and Weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Handling and managing fragile composite materials
  • Prep, lay-up and bonding of composite products.
  • Experience with layup of uni-directional and weave pre-pregs
  • May report status/progress and interface with other employees and departments.
  • Tooling preparation and release application.
  • Utilize measurement tools such as calipers, rulers, and tape measures for fabricating hardware.
  • Assist in maintaining overall shop appearance and cleanliness.
  • Execute to written instructions.
