Manufacturing Technician - Level 1 - 2ND SHIFT
About The Position
Northrop Grumman's Mission Enabling Products (MEP) organization designs, builds and delivers space, defense and aviation-related systems to customers around the world. Our main products include launch vehicles and related propulsion systems; missile products, subsystems and defense electronics; precision weapons, armament systems and ammunition; satellites and associated space components and services; and advanced aerospace structures. We are currently seeking a Manufacturing Technician 1 for our San Diego location. This position will be on 2nd shift (1:00 pm - 10:30 pm) paying 7% differential per hour. The Manufacturing Technician 1 position performs functions associated with all manufacturing operations in layup and panel fabrication.
Requirements
- A high school diploma and 0-2+ years' of composite lay up/ bonding experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience working in a composites/manufacturing environment (space/satellite structures, aerospace manufacturing environment)
- Demonstrated Mechanical Ability.
- Able to read, write and work to written instructions, blueprints, or shop drawings in English.
- Proficient use of basic shop arithmetic.
- Ability to work under limited supervision.
- US Citizenship required

- Associate's degree or 2 year Technical degree and 3 years' minimum experience in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities
- Handling and managing fragile composite materials.
- Prep, lay-up and bonding of composite products
- Experience with layup of uni-directional and weave pre-pregs
- May report status/progress and interface with other employees and departments.
- Tooling preparation and release application.
- Utilize measurement tools such as calipers, rulers, and tape measures for fabricating hardware.
- Assist in maintaining overall shop appearance and cleanliness.
- Execute to written instructions.
