About The Position

Veeco’s Precision Surface Processing (PSP) division is increasing production of wet etch and cleaning systems used to support advanced semiconductor manufacturing, including AI and next-generation chip packaging. As a entry-level Manufacturing Technician on the 2nd shift team, you’ll begin building hands-on experience assembling complex production equipment alongside experienced technicians and engineers. This role is designed for individuals starting their careers, providing structured learning, on-the-job training, and exposure to the systems used by leading semiconductor manufacturers. You will contribute to building tools that enable high-performance electronics used in everyday technologies. The 2nd Shift Schedule is 3:30am - 12:00am.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Ability to work 2nd Shift Schedule
  • Basic familiarity with hand tools and simple mechanical assembly techniques
  • Ability to assemble and plumb stainless steel tubing and Swagelok fittings from schematics.
  • Familiar with software including Excel, Word, and CAD; willingness to learn SolidWorks.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working with minimal supervision, taking direction from experienced technicians.
  • Physically able to stand, bend, climb ladders, and lift up to 25 lbs as part of daily work.

Nice To Haves

  • technical or trade school preferred
  • No prior experience required; internships, vocational training, or previous related hands-on project experience are a plus.
  • Basic electrical knowledge and ability to read wiring diagrams preferred.
  • Experience with cable terminations and automated machine control software a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Build mechanical assemblies, basic wiring, and fluid connections using detailed instructions and engineering documentation
  • Follow step-by-step guidance to interpret basic mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and assembly procedures
  • Identify issues during assembly and escalate to senior technicians or engineers for resolution
  • Document completed work, including build steps, changes, and observations in production logs
  • Support tool builds from early assembly stages through completion under guidance from experienced team members
  • Maintain an organized and safe work area while following all safety procedures and protocols
