About The Position

Axalta Coating Systems is seeking a Manufacturing Technician for their Chillicothe, Ohio facility. This role involves operating various equipment in a safe and efficient manner, maintaining housekeeping standards, and performing a range of duties related to the production of paints, coatings, and chemicals. The technician will be responsible for charging tanks, filtering product, labeling containers, and assisting with equipment maintenance. The position requires adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and site guidelines, as well as the ability to work in a self-directed team environment. This role also includes assisting in the training of other employees.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required.
  • 40 hr. work week (including occasional weekday and weekend overtime).
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Capability to learn quickly and work in a self-directed team environment.
  • Comfortable working with Hazardous materials while using proper PPE (gloves, masks, glasses, safety shoes, protective suits...Etc.).
  • Ability to lift/ carry/ push/ pull 50 Lbs. and stand for 8 hrs. per day.
  • Ability to repetitively climb ladders/ stairs, bend, stoop, twist, crouch, kneel, reach above shoulders, turn wrench/ valve handles.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 3 years’ experience working in an Industrial or Manufacturing environment.
  • Good Computer skills.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Previous manufacturing experience.
  • Previous experience operating lift trucks/ material handling.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Run all required equipment in a safe and efficient manner: Pumps/ Agitators/ Shakers, Scales, Viscosity measurements, Daily scale calibrations.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards.
  • Wash equipment (tanks, pumps, piping and loading equipment).
  • Load (charge) various size tanks from 5 to 500-gallon capacity.
  • Load (charge) and move/lift gallon stock, drums and totes.
  • Follow established process instructions and documentation (monitoring equipment).
  • Filter product (loading / charging FSI filter and traps).
  • Label containers, following established process, customer and DOT requirements.
  • Participate in area cleanup.
  • Perform selective maintenance tasks / equipment switch-outs to keep the process running.
  • Operate computer-controlled equipment.
  • Follow all site and area guidelines pertaining to all functions within the plant and assigned tasks (e.g., fire watch, breaks / lunch, availability for work).
  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) that pertain to employees job functions.
  • Assist in the training of other employees.
