About The Position

DPP is seeking a Manufacturing Technician II for an opportunity with our client in the Aerospace and Defense Manufacturing industry. This is a 12-month W2 Contract role located onsite in Goleta, CA. The role involves performing a variety of duties related to the fabrication or assembly of mechanical components for larger assemblies, including setting up and testing prototype units and subassemblies. The technician will analyze data, recommend modifications, and may assist mechanical engineers in various design and testing processes. Responsibilities also include performing rework, quality testing, and using sophisticated programs to collect and evaluate operating data for process adjustments. Handling fragile composite materials, managing adhesive materials with proper documentation, and reporting data are key aspects of the role. The technician will also be responsible for reading and understanding manufacturing/engineering drawings and shop planning, and assisting in maintaining shop appearance and cleanliness.

Requirements

Must be a US Citizen
High school diploma or GED and at least 2 years of additional education and/or related experience
Ability to read, write and work to instructions written in English.
Ability to lift/push/pull up to 40 pounds
Ability to be on feet for up to various hours each day
Ability to work flexible hours, overtime, and different shifts based on demanding manufacturing schedules
Initiative, self-starter, adaptable, and high motivation for excellence
Ability to navigate and operate within a Microsoft Office Environment (Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
Demonstrated Mechanical Ability
Ability to read and follow directions on engineering drawings and/or schematics
Familiarity with the proper hand tool technique and safety (wrenches, screwdrivers, etc.)
Familiarity with the concept of Torque

Nice To Haves

Proficient use of electronic test equipment such as DC power supplies, Digital Multimeters, and Source Meters.
Proficient use of basic shop arithmetic
Experience or familiarity with ISO requirements, standards, and compliance issues
Experience with cranes and rigging, forklifts, and similar manufacturing equipment
Soldering J Standard Certification

Responsibilities

Perform a variety of duties relating to the fabrication or assembly of mechanical components for larger assemblies.
Set up and test complete prototype units and subassemblies under operational conditions.
Analyze data and recommend modifications to components or test procedure to meet desired specifications.
May assist mechanical engineers in the development of mechanical and electromechanical engineering designs, tests, fabrications of assemblies and components.
Perform functions associated with all manufacturing operations, including working with engineers in set-up and calibration tasks, as well as performing rework and quality testing related to the production of parts, components, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies.
Uses sophisticated programs to collect and evaluate operating data to conduct on-line adjustments to products, instruments, or equipment.
Determine and assist in developing methods and procedures to control or modify the manufacturing process.
Handle and manage fragile composite materials.
Notate usage, traceability, pot life, and out time controls on all adhesive materials used.
Report data and interface with other employees and departments.
Reading and understanding manufacturing/ engineering drawings and shop planning.
Assist in maintaining overall shop appearance and cleanliness.
