About The Position

We are seeking an experienced, precision mechanical Manufacturing Technician B to perform a variety of assembly duties, including mechanical rocket engine assembly and test. This role involves assembling piece parts into completed sub-assemblies using typical assembly tools, and may also include final assemblies, quality testing, and re-work. The Redmond, WA site specializes in fabricating, assembling, and testing chemical and electric thrusters, as well as small-scale propulsion systems that support missions from solar system exploration to global communication and surveillance. The position is for a 2nd Shift (Mon - Thu 3:30pm - 2am) with initial training on day shift for approximately 2-3 months, and includes a 10% shift differential pay.

Requirements

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience
  • OR 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with 0-2 years of prior related experience

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of electrical test equipment (DMM, oscilloscope, etc.).
  • Knowledge of strippers, crimpers and installing solder splices.
  • Certification to IPC 620 preferred.
  • Familiarity with 5S and lean procedures.
  • Ability and willingness to work other shifts and overtime as necessary.
  • Oracle and Delmia experience.
  • Knowledge of Laminar Flow environments and FOE/FOD controls a plus.
  • Knowledge of mechanical assembly and test of electromechanical components.

Responsibilities

  • Mechanical assembly and test of engines or other components/products as assigned, including small mechanical precision assembly.
  • Handle precision clean parts within a laminar flow environment.
  • Perform diversified, but semi-repetitive operations following standardized methods and procedures under changing conditions.
  • Coordinate with maintenance, supervision and/or engineers in the set-up and calibration of equipment.
  • Perform troubleshooting of mechanical assemblies, company manufactured tooling and pressure testing.
  • Use and operate various computer systems and applicable software (such as retrieving work instructions or manufacturing module in ERP system).
  • Read and interpret product drawings, process specifications, and department procedures.
  • Provide assistance in developing methods and procedures to control or modify the manufacturing process, collect data, or assist in research work.
  • Repair or make recommendations to solve equipment issues.
  • Apply general rules to specific problems to come up with logical answers.
  • Perform mathematical calculations accurately and quickly.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with the work team and those contacted in the course of work.
  • Effectively communicate to supervision/lead person, maintenance, engineering or other employees of the organization.
  • Work with management, supervision or lead personnel to prioritize work and meet critical deadlines.
  • Provide rapid support while following proper housekeeping and safety procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
