About The Position

The Manufacturing Technician (Assembly) at John Crane in Morton Grove is responsible for assembling and testing dry gas seals, maintaining accurate records, and troubleshooting issues to ensure safe, efficient operations. This role involves updating incoming seal records, cleaning seal components, and maintaining test cell sub-components data and storage location. The technician will perform all necessary duties, including the proper usage of hand and power tools, to safely assemble dry gas seals into the test cell. They will also maintain records of bearing usage, troubleshoot problems associated with seal assembly, and install instrumentation on test cell and rig equipment. Additionally, the role requires preparing, organizing, and maintaining documentation for test cell assembly, maintaining high productivity as determined by the supervisor, and completing weekly 5S audits and actions. Participation in Continuous Improvement activities, training other technicians when required, and participating in daily SPQCD meetings are also key aspects of the position. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor/manager will be performed.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in Oil & Gas or rotating equipment industry.
  • Ability to read technical drawings is essential.
  • Skilled in fine measurements.
  • Good IT Skills - MS office
  • Good understanding of Continuous Improvement and associated tools

Nice To Haves

  • Assembly /Test experience in Gas Seals would be an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Update in-coming seal’s record.
  • Clean the seal components.
  • Maintain test cell sub-components data and storage location.
