About The Position

This role is responsible for working closely with the PPM / CTM Supervisor and the Aerospace Project Manager in support of the Aerospace Business Unit. The work can include, but is not limited to, machine operation, programming, and part inspection. The position involves creating work zones and programs for machining and inspection, training operators on new software, staying updated on machining technology, ensuring inventory of tooling, operating machines during operator absenteeism, and assisting operators with part setup and programming. The role requires self-motivation and regular communication with manufacturing supervisors. Work is coordinated through supervisors and may involve a team setting. Significant time is spent programming parts for PPM, and investigating new programming techniques as software versions are released.

Responsibilities

  • Create work zones and program as needed for the machining and inspection of parts in PPM and CTM.
  • Train operators, when required, with new machining or inspection software.
  • Stay up to date on machining, tooling, and fixture technology utilizing industry experts.
  • Ensure inventory of common perishable tooling as well as specialty tooling to meet project needs.
  • Operate the required machine(s) in the event of machine operator absenteeism.
  • Assist machine operators with the set up of parts if required (example: hard to handle parts).
  • Assist machine operators with set up and/or programming of parts as required.
  • Stay self-motivated and communicate with the manufacturing supervisor(s) (or applicable supervisor) on a project/daily basis.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Investigate new programming techniques as new versions of software are released.
