About The Position

The Manufacturing Supervisor - Swing Shift is responsible for leading and coordinating manufacturing operations during the second shift (Monday – Friday 2:30pm to 11:00pm) within a precision manufacturing shop environment. This role oversees machine operators, setup personnel, and support staff to ensure production schedules, quality standards, safety requirements, and efficiency goals are achieved. The supervisor is responsible for fostering a positive team culture while maintaining operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience in precision machining, fabrication, or semiconductor-related manufacturing.
  • Experience supervising saw cutting operations for metal materials, including stainless steel, aluminum, and specialty alloys.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
  • Understanding of machining principles, tooling, measuring instruments, and quality standards.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP systems.

  • Previous supervisory, lead, or team leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct production employees during swing shift operations. (Monday – Friday 2:30pm to 11:00pm)
  • Ensure production schedules and customer delivery requirements are met.
  • Ensure proper building closure protocol is performed at the end of each shift.
  • Monitor workflow and machine utilization to maximize productivity and efficiency.
  • Assign personnel based on workload, priorities, and employee skill levels.
  • Ensure compliance with all quality standards, inspection procedures, and manufacturing specifications.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Promote and enforce company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
  • Conduct routine safety observations and address unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Train, mentor, and develop machine operators and setup technicians.
  • Assist with employee performance evaluations, attendance management, and disciplinary actions when necessary.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, maintenance, and planning departments to resolve operational challenges.
  • Review production metrics and communicate shift performance to management.
  • Monitor equipment condition and coordinate preventive maintenance activities.
  • Support lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate production records, labor reporting, and shift turnover communication.
