About The Position

Atkore is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Supervisor to work the 1st shift (8 AM to 4 PM) at their New Bedford, MA facility. This role reports to the Plant Manager and is responsible for supervising and leading a unionized workforce, with a strong emphasis on teamwork, continuous improvement, and achieving safety, quality, delivery, and cost goals. The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree and at least five years of previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing setting. Experience in lean manufacturing or a business system-based company is considered a plus.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
  • Five years of previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must have schedule flexibility and be willing to work additional hours based on business needs.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems using Lean Manufacturing tools.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word and Excel).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a plus.
  • Experience supervising a unionized workforce is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Active participation to ensure compliance of all environmental, health, and safety programs.
  • Ensure compliance of all quality procedures and improve process and product quality.
  • Achieve production goals to meet the production scheduling plan.
  • Control of manufacturing costs to optimize labor, material, and machine utilization.
  • Lead the Atkore Business System within their teams and utilize Lean tools for improvement projects.
  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma programs as well as plant initiatives.
  • Daily supervision of a unionized workforce.
  • Manage vacation schedules and overtime.
  • Train, coach, and develop employees to improve skills, performance, and engagement.
  • Ensure proper training of new employees and meet cross-training program goals.
  • Hold team members accountable for adherence to standard work, attendance, and performance expectations.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide regular feedback.
  • Communication with all levels of the organization.
