About The Position

Atkore is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Supervisor to work the 1st shift (8 AM to 4 PM) at their New Bedford, MA facility. This role reports to the Plant Manager and is responsible for supervising and leading a unionized workforce, with a strong emphasis on teamwork, continuous improvement, and achieving safety, quality, delivery, and cost goals. The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree and at least five years of previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing setting. Experience in lean manufacturing or a business system-based company is considered a plus.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
Five years of previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
Must have schedule flexibility and be willing to work additional hours based on business needs.
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Demonstrated ability to solve problems using Lean Manufacturing tools.
Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word and Excel).

Nice To Haves

Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a plus.
Experience supervising a unionized workforce is a plus.

Responsibilities

Active participation to ensure compliance of all environmental, health, and safety programs.
Ensure compliance of all quality procedures and improve process and product quality.
Achieve production goals to meet the production scheduling plan.
Control of manufacturing costs to optimize labor, material, and machine utilization.
Lead the Atkore Business System within their teams and utilize Lean tools for improvement projects.
Participate in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma programs as well as plant initiatives.
Daily supervision of a unionized workforce.
Manage vacation schedules and overtime.
Train, coach, and develop employees to improve skills, performance, and engagement.
Ensure proper training of new employees and meet cross-training program goals.
Hold team members accountable for adherence to standard work, attendance, and performance expectations.
Conduct performance reviews and provide regular feedback.
Communication with all levels of the organization.
