This role is for a Manufacturing Supervisor on the 3rd Shift (10 PM to 6 AM), with initial training on 1st and 2nd shifts. Requirements

  • 2-4 years of relative experience in a supervisor role.
  • Manufacturing experience required.
  • Excellent attendance.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field and/or equivalent experience in a converting facility is required.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • SAP, MS Office and database programs experience.
  • Requires use of all general office equipment (e.g. fax, copier, telephone, etc.).
  • Must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally, including early mornings, nights, and/or weekends.
  • Must be willing to work a rotating shift, as business needs dictate.
  • Occasional overnight travel to include flying, driving, riding or by rail.
  • Ability to read, write, hear, see, speak and have agility on a continuous basis.
  • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
  • Use of various hand and electrical tools and equipment.
  • Work in areas of fluctuating temperature and loud noises.
  • PPE required: Steel-toed/safety footwear, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Cut resistant Safety Gloves, Hair Net, Beard Net.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating hand jacks, electric pallet jacks and forklifts and clamp trucks a plus.
  • Experience and knowledge of roll stock cutting machines, printing presses, die cutting machines, and straight-line gluers is preferred.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Directs and coordinates day-to-day shift activities, providing leadership and supervision to subordinates.
  • Serves as the link between direct reports and middle/upper management.
  • Aligns business operations and department objectives to exceed customer expectations and meet company goals.
  • Plans production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products.
  • Utilizes knowledge of production processes, machine capabilities, and human resource requirements.
  • Makes decisions on job assignments and work priorities.
  • Reviews production and operating reports, resolving operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to minimize costs and prevent delays.
  • Ensures equipment condition and department housekeeping standards are met.
  • Researches, compiles, and prepares reports for management, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
  • Works with employees to maintain a safe work environment and encourages safe work practices.
  • Ensures product quality and production efficiencies meet or exceed established standards.
  • Examines procedures and recommends changes to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Supervises and coordinates activities of support resources (quality, maintenance, shipping, receiving, technical trainers).
  • Observes subordinates to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and productivity standards.
  • Verifies completeness and accuracy of subordinates’ work, computations, and records.
  • Participates in subordinates' work to facilitate productivity or overcome challenges.
  • Instructs subordinates in job duties or arranges for training.
  • Facilitates team meetings and works with team members to develop their full potential.
  • Initiates and conducts personnel actions such as discipline, performance evaluations, and payroll.
  • Evaluates subordinate job performance and recommends appropriate personnel action.
  • Administers, communicates, and interprets work procedures and company policies.
  • Provides guidance to subordinates in handling difficult problems and resolving grievances.
  • Protects and strengthens Graphic Packaging International’s reputation and acts consistently with core values.
