About The Position

This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military experience to a 3M career. As a Production Supervisor at the Cottage Grove, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by guiding activities and personnel in order to achieve the safe handling and disposal of hazardous waste in an environmentally conscious and productive manner. You will also cultivate and lead a team by encouraging and implementing cross training activities, cooperation, innovation, flexibility and teamwork. This role involves scheduling work priorities consistent with engineering directives, coordinating maintenance activities, allocating work assignments, communicating expectations and monitoring workflow. You will provide coaching and feedback to employees and utilize corrective action to resolve conflict and inappropriate behaviors. Training employees on all aspects of the Cottage Grove operations and processes, and providing them with proper tools, equipment and information including any changes that may affect their work is also a key part of this role. Ensuring a safe work environment by reviewing production processes, OSHA requirements, and recognizing and resolving safety-related problems is paramount. You will ensure employees receive training as specified and maintain certification and training requirements. Effective communication to employees through crew meetings, electronic mail, and 1:1 coaching sessions is essential. Completing housekeeping audits and job safety analysis on a regular basis, and utilizing available resources to resolve process, maintenance, equipment and/or related technical problems are also expected. Monitoring and remediating process equipment downtime while maintaining safe operating limits, and analyzing and interpreting statistical data and charts to identify trends and determine improvement plans are crucial. Communicating and following-up on safety, productivity, quality, and maintenance concerns with appropriate staff, and generating work requests and entering incident reports in accordance with established procedures are part of the daily tasks. Implementing advanced working knowledge and interpretation of corporate and site policies and procedures, and ensuring shift administrative activities such as time reporting, attendance control, vacation planning, overtime, etc. are properly implemented and documented are also key responsibilities. Participating in assigned team functions and projects, and understanding of DOT and Hazardous Material Regulations are required. Being an active member and participating in site Emergency E-squad activities is also part of the role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution and a minimum of two (2) years of combined experience working in a manufacturing or production environment in a private, public, government or military setting.
  • OR High School diploma/GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution and a minimum of four (4) years of combined experience working in a manufacturing or production environment in a private, public, government or military setting.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
  • Responsibilities of this position may include direct and/or indirect physical or logical access to information, systems, technologies subjected to the regulations/compliance with U.S. Export Control Laws.

Nice To Haves
