About The Position

Boulevard Tire Center is hiring a Manufacturing Retread Technician at its Dundee, Florida location. The role performs repetitive work inspecting, buffing, repairing, building, heating, and sealing tires by operating machines and using rubber components to rebuild tires. The employer is willing to train candidates who are eager to learn and interested in advancement. The position includes inspecting tires for suitability and defects, preparing casings and applying rubber treads, curing tires to specifications, repairing and finishing retreads, and maintaining supplies of tread rubber and repair materials. Other duties may be assigned by the Manager.

Responsibilities

Inspect worn tires for faults, cracks, cuts, and nail holes and determine whether they are suitable for retreading.
Operate a buffing machine to remove tire treads according to specifications for depth and width.
Measure tire diameter and cross section to determine the correct tread width.
Build semi-raw rubber treads onto buffed tire casings to prepare them for vulcanization.
Place tires in a curing chamber and program the correct curing temperature according to specifications.
Inspect tires for curing defects, including soft cures, ply separation, and missed repairs.
Trim and paint finished retreads.
Repair tires found defective during the process.
Perform a final inspection, cut tread designs with a re-grooving iron, paint tires, and place them in finished stock.
Maintain stock of tread rubber and repair materials and advise the Manager when replenishment is necessary.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager.
