About The Position

Machine Specialties, LLC (MSI), a contract machining and metal finishing company in Whitsett, North Carolina, is seeking a Manufacturing Quality Engineer. The role analyzes product, process, and method issues at designated stages of product development and manufacturing to maximize product conformance to specified requirements while ensuring manufacturability. The engineer participates in development activities to improve products and processes proactively and prevent nonconforming product, responds to customer compliance requests, and assists with internal and external corrective action responses. This is a full-time exempt position reporting directly to the Quality Engineering Manager. The position requires attention to detail, independent task management, responsibility for productivity and work quality, continued skills development, sharing knowledge with colleagues, and discussing issues and proposed solutions with appropriate personnel.

Requirements

Associate's or bachelor's degree required.
Working knowledge of quality assurance tools, methods, and concepts.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent data collection and analysis skills.
Ability to remain on task without supervision and take responsibility for productivity and work quality.
Strong attention to detail.
Continuously develop skills and abilities and share skills, knowledge, and experience to support common goals.
Address and discuss issues and proposed solutions with appropriate personnel.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of AS9100, ISO 13485, or an equivalent QMS process.
Knowledge of quality tools and techniques.
Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
Problem-solving skills, including 8D.
Knowledge of process capability theory and statistical process control (SPC).
Working knowledge of Lean tools.
Relevant Quality Engineer training and/or certifications.
Experience in an aerospace manufacturing facility.

Responsibilities

Analyze product, process, and method issues during product development and manufacturing.
Help maximize product conformance to specified requirements while ensuring manufacturability.
Participate in development activities to improve products and processes and prevent nonconforming product.
Respond to customer compliance requests.
Assist with internal and external corrective action responses.
Perform root cause analysis and recommend improvements.
Document quality assurance activities and create reports.
Support the use of statistics for product improvement and process control.
Communicate effectively with customers.
Provide data and Pareto analysis of problem parts and processes.
Ensure QMS standards are followed.
