About The Position

Drive quality and engineering readiness for new products, modules and components, including critical modules such as Battery (Li-ion and other chemistries), Camera, Thermal and other subsystems - for iPhones & other Apple products, from early design through mass production. Partner with design, supply chain, and OEM/supplier teams to ensure new products meet specification, reliability, and scalability targets.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in manufacturing, process engineering, or the development of consumer electronics
  • Experience in metrology, standard manufacturing quality control practices, and process/manufacturing engineering fundamentals
  • Experience with any of the following: mechanical enclosures, castings, plastic parts, injection molding, tooling, jigs, fixtures, or high-volume quality/manufacturing engineering (e.g., Automotive, Consumer Electronics, Medical Devices, etc.)
  • Creative problem-solving experience and strong English communication skills
  • Experience developing process quality plans, leading supplier quality audits, and driving corrective actions and failure analysis efforts
  • Project management experience and a deep understanding of problem-solving and process development tools, including Design of Experiments (DoE), root cause analysis, FEA, FMEA, and statistical tools
  • Expertise in GRR, MSA, GD&T practices, metrology, DFMEA, and tolerance analysis
  • Knowledge of reliability methods, quality sampling methodologies, and process validation for high-volume manufacturing
  • Strong communication skills and passion to learn and adapt in a dynamic environment

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in design/manufacturing of components with tight tolerances is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Review new product designs and specifications, providing Design for Manufacturing (DFM) feedback; conduct tolerance analysis, FEA, and FMEA to identify design risks and recommend corrective changes
  • Assess fabrication and assembly strategies for new material or component designs; create risk assessments and mitigation plans, identifying execution challenges and recommending solutions
  • Plan and lead Design of Experiments (DoEs) to inform design and supply chain decisions
  • Collaborate with suppliers to develop flow mapping, FMEA, equipment/metrology plans, and implementation schedules prior to engineering builds
  • Work with design, engineering, and safety teams to establish quality control, inspection, and metrology stations on production lines
  • Support new product development builds, driving quality issues to timely closure and presenting RCCA findings to Executive leadership as needed
  • Plan and run validation trials to demonstrate feasibility for high-volume production; assess supplier readiness for build activities and mass production
  • Develop and execute component/module reliability testing plans during NPI and mass production
  • Drive quality and readiness at the factory for development builds and mass production; prepare OK-to-Ship documentation for new product launches
  • Manage IQC, IPQC, OQC, and ORT programs for injection molding, stamping, and other components; establish quality control plans jointly with vendors
  • Conduct periodic reviews of field and factory quality data with OEM and supplier partners, refining specifications and process capability based on production data
  • Drive production improvements, including robotics and automation, to reduce labor costs and maximize quality
