Requirements

  • BS or above in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related field).
  • 5+ years of experience in engineering, manufacturing, or quality control specifically for resin products.
  • Hands-on experience with plastic manufacturing and molding processes.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical quality and reliability concepts, and general manufacturing operations.
  • Experience with the development and evaluation of measurement systems.
  • Advanced failure analysis skills with a proven track record of diagnosing complex material and manufacturing defects to establish root cause.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and statistical software (such as JMP) to evaluate process capabilities and drive data-backed decision making.
  • Strong understanding of problem-solving methodologies and tools, including Design of Experiments (DOE), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and statistical analytical tools.
  • Experience developing process quality plans, conducting supplier quality audits, and driving corrective actions.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with multi-functional teams to evaluate designs and processes at the concept phase.
  • Collaborate closely with product design and manufacturing engineering teams to develop and manage material and part-level specifications.
  • Lead activities to balance unparalleled quality with scalable yields.
  • Work with internal and external groups to ensure proper definition of quality expectations and appropriate assurance techniques are used for the product.
  • Develop measurement technologies, control strategies, information systems, and manufacturing methods that achieve results-oriented specifications at substantial production scale for resins.
  • Develop and implement groundbreaking quality inspection tools to evaluate cosmetic and dimensional characteristics for plastic.
  • Support qualification of resin manufacturing process activities, including the development and alignment of inspection plans.
  • Coordinate all Quality Engineering functions for a program, serving as the project manager to lead efforts at resin manufacturing supplier locations.
  • Establish audit procedures appropriate to the program and plastic material suppliers to ensure consistency with Apple quality standards.
  • Travel frequently to supplier sites to oversee operations and quality compliance.
  • Lead complex problem-solving initiatives and conduct deep-dive failure analysis to identify root causes and resolve manufacturing or material defects.
  • Compile and evaluate data to resolve appropriate limits for plastic parts.
  • Evaluate and communicate yields of new and existing processes.
  • Drive corrective actions multi-functionally with internal and external team members based on failure analysis findings.
