About The Position

The Manufacturing Quality Engineer II position is located in the West Lebanon, NH manufacturing facility. The Manufacturing Quality Engineer develops, validates, implements, and sustains production, assembly, inspection, test, calibration, and troubleshooting methods for complex manufacturing operations. This hands-on technical role owns controlled procedures, fixtures, tooling, equipment readiness, process validation, training, root cause analysis, and corrective actions that prevent recurrence. This position serves as a primary liaison between Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality, transferring product knowledge into repeatable manufacturing practices, driving standardization, continuous improvement, process control, and operational readiness. The role reduces manufacturing variation, prevents recurring failures, improves inspection and test effectiveness, and builds operational self-reliance through controlled documentation, training, technical standards, and clear process ownership.

Requirements

  • Ability to independently lead complex root cause and corrective action efforts to successful, sustained completion.
  • Ability to define problems, collect and analyze data, draw valid conclusions, and implement practical solutions consistent with organizational objectives.
  • Working knowledge of statistics, FMEA/DFMEA/PFMEA, control plans, process verification and validation, Cp/Cpk, SPC, DOE, 8D, process data analysis, and DMAIC.
  • Ability to represent the department in frequent cross-functional interactions and customer or supplier contacts.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills for communication with coworkers, customers, suppliers, and management.
  • Experience providing technical direction, coaching, or training to technicians, inspectors, operators, or laboratory associates.
  • Proficiency with analytical and business tools such as Minitab, Excel, Word, Wrike, Outlook, PowerPoint, SAP, and applicable ERP/MRP or quality systems.
  • Ability to work in manufacturing, assembly, inspection, test, laboratory, and clean-room environments as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and other recognized international quality management system standards.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer and/or Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
  • Experience supporting complex electromechanical assemblies and partnering with Field Support on system failure analysis.
  • Experience with SolidWorks, reliability modeling, Weibull analysis, and software reliability applications.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, validate, document, and sustain standardized manufacturing methods across production areas.
  • Create and maintain controlled work instructions, procedures, setup guides, tooling documentation, and operator qualification requirements.
  • Design, specify, validate, and sustain workstations, fixtures, jigs, gauges, tooling, and measurement methods that improve safety, efficiency, repeatability, and quality.
  • Develop and improve production, assembly, inspection, test, calibration, and troubleshooting methods, translating engineering requirements into practical shop-floor controls.
  • Support process verification and validation and apply manufacturing quality tools, including FMEA, PFMEA, control plans, Cp/Cpk, SPC, DOE, process data analysis, and DMAIC.
  • Lead structured root cause investigations for electrical, mechanical, print-quality, alignment, supplier, and manufacturing failures.
  • Lead or participate in ICAR, CAPA, ERB/MRB, 8D, and supplier corrective action activities.
  • Define and coordinate countermeasures, track actions through closure, verify effectiveness, and update controls, procedures, and training to prevent recurrence.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to resolve issues arising from manufacturing processes, material review, engineering review, field failures, and supplier performance.
  • Define and sustain incoming, in-process, work-in-process, and final inspection requirements, including inspection plans, sampling methods, acceptance criteria, and records.
  • Audit adherence to inspection and manufacturing controls, document results, and address identified process gaps through corrective action, improved methods, tooling, and retraining.
  • Provide technical support for nonconforming material disposition and supplier corrective actions in coordination with Quality and Procurement.
  • Analyze production and quality data to identify trends and recommend updates to standards, controls, and procedures.
  • Develop, validate, and maintain controlled production test procedures, defined acceptance criteria, reviewable records, and formal signoff requirements.
  • Ensure production and test equipment inventories and establish readiness, calibration compliance, measurement system effectiveness, and clear ownership of test execution.
  • Lead follow-up on test failures and escaped defects and establish closed-loop feedback to improve test coverage and product quality.
  • Provide day-to-day manufacturing process support and troubleshooting without becoming the permanent operator, assembler, inspector, or tester while reducing dependency on Engineering for routine production, audit, test, documentation, and training support.
  • Build Operations and Test self-reliance through controlled procedures, technical training, qualification standards, equipment readiness, and clear process ownership.
  • Support production readiness, new product introduction, engineering changes, process transfers, and implementation of production equipment and fixtures.
  • Determine whether and when issues require escalation to Operations, Quality, Test, or Engineering ownership.
  • Create technical training content and train or mentor engineers, technicians, inspectors, and manufacturing personnel on methods, quality standards, inspection practices, and test procedures.
  • Lead multiple continuous improvement projects focused on quality, yield, productivity, cycle time, cost, and risk reduction.
  • Develop and monitor metrics for recurring defects, corrective action closure, process capability, inspection adherence, test effectiveness, and Engineering support demand.
  • Present findings, risks, priorities, and recommendations to management and key internal or external stakeholders.
