About The Position

The Manufacturing Project Engineer role is an important function within US Drivetrain - Advanced Materials Technology. This critical team member will drive continuous improvement for Safety, Quality, Velocity and Cost effectiveness. The selected candidate will manage projects including introducing new capital and new products into production. Additional responsibilities include leading teams to drive safety improvements in the US Drivetrain organization. While running improvement projects the selected candidate will interface with suppliers, customers, and internal process partners to maximize business results. This position is in the Peoria Area working in Building KK.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, Materials, Metallurgy ) or equivalent experience desired.
  • Capacity Planning & Management - MFG: Knowledge of tools, approaches and practices for determining production demand and ability to manage resources needed to provide satisfactory levels of service.
  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
  • Engineering - Manufacturing: Knowledge of processes, techniques and methods of engineering in a manufacturing environment; ability to design and implement materials, structures, machines, devices, systems and processes that safely realize a desired objective or invention.
  • Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.
  • Technical Troubleshooting: Knowledge of technical troubleshooting approaches, tools, and techniques; ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve technical issues on hardware, software, application, or operation.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience leading cross functional teams outside of direct reporting structure
  • Experience with drivetrain components such as gears and shafts
  • Experience with heat treatment of components including carburizing and press quenching
  • Experience in manufacturing operations and process development/support
  • Experience in managing capital projects
  • Experience developing, executing, or supporting component manufacturing APQP activities including Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), Control Plans, In-Process Validation (IPV), traceability, process monitoring, and / or error-proofing (poka-yoke)

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot technical challenges related to the manufacturing of drivetrain components ranging from dimensional nonconformances to metallurgical issues
  • Provide guidance to manufacturing and operators to develop high quality components and safe processes.
  • Analyze current processes and propose future production methods or capital solutions to achieve Enterprise Capacity Requirements (ECR) planning for drivetrain components through the heat treatment value stream
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI), New Supplier Introduction (NSI), and New Technology Introduction (NTI) related to the process of manufacturing drivetrain components
  • Execute the capital process (Scope of Work / RFQ / RFI / Issue POs / supplier runoff / install equipment / validate process) including driving changes / improvements as needed to deliver the safest solution for our business that achieves our customer’s needs.
  • Lead teams to drive safety improvements in the US Drivetrain organization.
  • Interface with suppliers, customers, and internal process partners to maximize business results.
