About The Position

Kleen Test Products (KTP), a large contract manufacturer of wet wipes, liquids, and consumer products, is seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Project Engineer for its Strasburg, OH facility. This role is not desk-bound; it involves direct work with production equipment, maintenance, operators, vendors, and plant leadership to resolve manufacturing issues, enhance existing production lines, and implement new equipment and processes. The ideal candidate understands manufacturing equipment beyond just theoretical knowledge and is adept at problem-solving on the plant floor.

Requirements

  • An engineering or technical degree or significant hands-on manufacturing engineering experience.
  • Experience working directly with production machinery and automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot equipment problems on the plant floor.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting electrical/control systems, sensors, drives, PLC-controlled equipment, or industrial automation.
  • Experience improving equipment performance, throughput, scrap, downtime, or labor efficiency.
  • The ability to take a problem from root-cause analysis through implementation.
  • Experience coordinating equipment installations, vendors, contractors, or capital projects.
  • CAD experience, preferably AutoCAD.
  • Strong Excel and data-analysis skills.
  • The ability to communicate and work effectively with operators, Maintenance, Production leadership, vendors, customers, and management.

Nice To Haves

  • High-speed manufacturing or packaging experience.
  • Experience with automated production equipment.
  • Experience with conveyors, filling, converting, packaging, robotics, or similar equipment.
  • Experience with PLCs, controls, drives, sensors, and machine troubleshooting.
  • Experience with equipment installation and startup.
  • Experience with continuous improvement in a manufacturing plant.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and solve mechanical, electrical, controls, and production equipment problems.
  • Improve manufacturing equipment and processes to increase throughput, reduce scrap, improve reliability, and improve labor efficiency.
  • Develop practical equipment modifications and solutions for existing production lines.
  • Support new equipment installations, line startups, production trials, and commissioning.
  • Work with Maintenance and Production to identify root causes and implement lasting fixes.
  • Analyze production data to identify performance losses and improvement opportunities.
  • Develop equipment concepts, specifications, layouts, and project requirements.
  • Collaborate with equipment manufacturers, integrators, contractors, and other vendors from concept through installation.
  • Assist with production line assembly, setup, and troubleshooting.
  • Train Maintenance and Production employees on new equipment and processes.
  • Provide technical support during customer trials and new product launches.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects throughout the plant.
  • Provide leadership support on the production floor when needed.
