About The Position

The Manufacturing Project Engineer– eFRAME Quality will lead manufacturing quality for our large assembly operations, including eFRAME production. This is a hands-on, high-impact role responsible for investigating and containing quality issues, strengthening process controls, and ensuring product leaving our lines meets customer expectations for quality and reliability. In this Manufacturing Project Engineer– eFRAME Quality position, you will drive supplier corrective actions, manage nonconformance review and material disposition, build and sustain layered process audits, and lead continuous improvement projects that eliminate rework and waste. You’ll partner closely with Engineering, Operations, and Smart Factory teams and serve as a key point of contact for customer-impacting quality issues. This opportunity is ideal for a quality engineer who thrives on the production floor, takes ownership of problems through closure, and can communicate clearly from the line to the leadership team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related field preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience in quality or manufacturing engineering within a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated experience leading root cause analysis and corrective action (8D or equivalent) through verified closure
  • Experience with supplier quality management, including SCARs, containment, and supplier communications
  • Working knowledge of PFMEA, control plans, layered process audits, and work instruction development
  • Experience with SAP QM or a similar ERP/quality management system; MES experience preferred
  • Experience with large fabricated, welded, painted, or adhesively bonded assemblies preferred
  • Proven experience applying Lean and Six Sigma methodologies (Green Belt or higher preferred)
  • Union experience preferred
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills, with the ability to communicate clearly to all levels including senior leadership

Responsibilities

  • Investigate, contain, and drive resolution of product and process quality issues impacting production, suppliers, and customers
  • Lead structured root cause analysis and corrective action (8D, 5-Why, fishbone) for assembly defects, dimensional issues, and process failures
  • Monitor production quality metrics and drive corrective actions on adverse trends and escapes
  • Review manufacturing processes and product designs to identify quality and reliability risks before they reach the customer
  • Coordinate supplier quality concerns for fabricated, painted, and purchased components, including roof assemblies and wall panels
  • Lead defect investigations, containment plans, and DMR issuance. Work directly with SQE team to ensure production remains unaffected.
  • Manage nonconformance review activities, track open quality issues, and facilitate status reviews to ensure timely disposition
  • Support incoming inspection, product holds, material containment, and disposition of suspect material
  • Support inspection staffing and quality resource planning to maintain coverage across manufacturing areas
  • Develop, implement, and sustain process controls to prevent recurrence, including layered process audits (LPA), work instructions, checklists, and verification activities
  • Own and advance the Layered Process Audit program for eFRAME operations
  • Develop process controls for adhesive application and panel bonding processes, including wet-out verification
  • Lead continuous improvement projects that reduce waste, improve throughput, and eliminate rework (e.g., weld nut masking to eliminate thread rework)
  • Apply Lean, Six Sigma, SPC, and PFMEA tools to improve quality performance and operational efficiency
  • Coordinate cross-functional responses to customer-impacting quality issues, including timelines, control plans, status updates, and executive-level communications
  • Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, and Smart Factory teams to evaluate new processes and support manufacturing technology implementations
  • Support MES and Smart Factory testing to improve nonconformance and quality workflow processes
