About The Position

The Manufacturing Production Planner is responsible for preparing batch cards, releasing pick lists, sequencing batches through production, and optimizing the use of labor, equipment, set-ups, and materials. This role involves comparing scheduled production order totals to the master schedule, identifying and resolving capacity conflicts, and communicating schedules and progress to plant and corporate personnel. The planner will also prepare reports on capacity, utilization, load, and schedules, act on requested schedule changes, and coordinate with Research & Development, Quality Control, Process Engineering, and Production departments for first-time production and critical changes. Additionally, the role involves evaluating chemical equipment and processes to optimize performance and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

Requirements

  • Advanced level proficiency in SAP (planning, scheduling, and production modules required).
  • Ability to communicate with Supervisors, peers, or subordinates: provide information to supervisors and co-workers in written form or in person.
  • Good record of attendance and punctuality.
  • Willingness to learn all manual tasks performed within the department.
  • Ability to perform tasks assigned using specific operating procedures and following department specific quality control processes and procedures.
  • Ability to treat people with dignity and respect.
  • Ability to conduct all business with integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare batch cards and all production paperwork.
  • Release pick lists for pigment hoppers and chemical raw materials.
  • Sequence batches through production; optimize use of labor, equipment, set-ups, and materials.
  • Compare scheduled production order totals to the master schedule.
  • Identify and resolve conflicts for capacity of production equipment and labor.
  • Communicate daily and weekly schedule, progress toward each, and all changes to plant and corporate personnel daily.
  • Prepare reports on capacity, utilization, load, and schedules.
  • Act on requested schedule changes including customer expedites.
  • Bring together on a regular basis Research & Development, Quality Control, Process Engineering, and Production departments to review first time production and critical changes.
  • Evaluate chemical equipment and processes to identify ways to optimize performance or to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Demonstrate advanced level proficiency in SAP (planning, scheduling, and production modules required).
  • Communicate with Supervisors, peers, or subordinates: provide information to supervisors and co-workers in written form or in person.
