About The Position

As a Project Lauch Gears Machining Group Leader, you will be responsible for supervising a group of employees to develop business processes, manage production operations and foster an atmosphere of teamwork and cooperation. You will work with your team in getting a production area ready for operations. These tasks will include GMS implementation, WPO (Work Place Organization), Station Readiness, PMP (Production Maintenance Partnership), equipment runoff, and writing of standardized work. Selected candidates will have the opportunity to learn new skills as well as influencing the development of manufacturing processes. All roles require you to: Read standardized work instructions, operate machines and tools, and perform quality inspections. Promptly detect and respond to safety instructions, alarms, and signals. Wear personal protective equipment, for example: safety glasses, gloves, hats, ear plugs, and safety shoes. The Project Launch Gears Group Leader will be the point person for project related launch activities that take place in the Gear Machining areas. The individual selected for this position must be capable of working with little direction and will collaborate with all levels of a cross-functional team to drive launch execution. This is an hourly people leader position, responsible for supervising core team members and will coordinate the activities of various Gear Machining launches. In this role, you will oversee production activities, quality assurance, inspection, problem-solving, and GM Built-in-Quality initiatives. You will be expected to apply independent judgment within the framework of Global Manufacturing Systems, with a strong focus on Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment (SPQRCE). The selected candidate will need to be flexible and work overtime and off-shifts as needed.

Requirements

  • Ability to coordinate, manage and lead people
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage conflict
  • Basic computer proficiency (i.e. Microsoft Word, typing, email etc.)
  • Must be willing to work weekends and rotating shifts
  • One year of direct supervisory experience or at least 5 months as an internal GM per diem group leader
  • Experience managing, leading people, and addressing performance concerns
  • Experience solving complex problems and working in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills, experience managing conflict, and decision making
  • Demonstrate a high analytical ability to solve complex problems
  • Basic computer proficiency (i.e. Microsoft Word, typing, email etc.)
  • Must be willing to work weekends, overtime, and rotating shifts as required based on business needs
  • 18 years of age or older
  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Project Launch Group Leader will support Plant Launch Operations Manager (PLOM) and other Project Launch Team personnel.
  • Participate in the training, developing, and evaluation of hourly team members.
  • Follow launch OSTS (Operator Support Task Sheet) for new equipment and execute various launch activities.
  • Support development of standardized work for new/changes in operation stations.
  • Attend required meetings – Layout reviews, Daily Wrap-Ups, MARO (machine runoff) calls etc.
  • Summarize critical issues with resolutions and communicate to leadership.
  • The ability to travel domestically and internationally as necessary.
  • Able to work 2nd and 3rd shifts as necessary to support and train.
  • Support legacy programs when as needed.
