About The Position
The Manufacturing/Process Engineering Intern will gain hands-on experience in manufacturing and process engineering by supporting various roles within the department. The intern will work closely with Senior Engineers and other members of the engineering team to analyze, troubleshoot, and optimize manufacturing processes, assist with process improvements, and ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
Requirements
- Must be eligible to work in the US.
- Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Engineering or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes and principles is a plus.
Nice To Haves
- Previous internship experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Experience with statistical analysis software.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles.
Responsibilities
- Learn the basics of manufacturing through participation in different roles, such as SMT (Surface-Mount Technology) Machine Operator and Selective Solder Operator.
- Job shadow across various functions, including Process Technicians, Documentation Technicians, and Manufacturing/Process Engineering.
- Provide support to production teams by assisting with product-related challenges and issues.
- Assist with process improvements within assigned areas of expertise, including identifying opportunities for optimization.
- Analyze process data to develop achievable process improvement goals and recommend actions for continuous improvement projects.
- Ensure processes comply with SFE and customer quality systems, industry standards, and best practices.
- Apply creative problem-solving techniques to address process and product-related challenges.
- Use software tools to conduct root cause analysis, trend analysis, and investigation of various issues affecting production.
- Apply continuous improvement principles to seek opportunities for reducing waste and optimizing processes.
- Follow safety, ESD (Electrostatic Discharge), and general shop floor guidelines to ensure safe and efficient operations.
